What state is the bench in? If i Google Earth, I probablly wouldn't

be able to see it, anyway.

This is wonderful! I'm thinking of doing something for my parents as well.

Thinking of going with a tree as dad was such a gardener. I'm sure your parents

are awfully proud and happy.

OT - Mom's Park Bench

Sooooo... Couldn't wait any longer...

The memorial park bench dedicated to my parents has been in the park

since November, but the Parks Dept. guy said they were going to upgrade

the plaque since they weren't happy with it... I waited, and waited,

before visiting - and couldn't wait any longer. So yes, a new plaque

would be nicer (one that is more viewable - it's so teeny tiny - and

the other park benches that were done by the neighbors vs. the city had

better plaques - so I guess the plan is to upgrade to a plaque that

looks more like those...)

Anyhoo... I posted the bench & plaque in my photo album for anyone who

is interested. :) And hopefully will post another sometime in the near

future of the upgraded plaque. :)

Yes, when my dad passed we had a beech tree planted in a different

city park (private park where my folks used to live - Lin knows what

I'm talking about since she met my mom years before Lewy... stayed in

my mom's condo at the time since my mom had a B & B business.... never

realizing we'd meet under these circumstances years later...) Then a

friend of my mother's had another tree planted in her memory in FL.

Although I must say that putting a park bench in front of the " dog

run " at this park doesn't allow me to go and get much reflection

done. Sat on the bench for the first time yesterday and my thoughts

kept getting interrupted by barking dogs. LOL :) But it's appropriate

nonetheless since mom was such a dog lover and used to bring her dogs

to that dog run herself. And both parents loved the loud city life...

Yes it's in the Photos section on this board - my album is more than

one page so you'll have to go to 'next page' to view... :) Or go to

HOME (from left column) and it's the 2 NEW PHOTOS listed at top...

Instead of trying to explain the private park - here's a link to the

park itself:

http://tinyurl.com/22865c

Only those residents whose homes connect to the park has access to

the park... that's what makes it private... (if you look on page 4,

my mom's name is mentioned b/c she left a stone bench there when she

moved to new location...)

PS - my parents had their 40th wedding anniversary held in the

park... The neat thing.. when you're in the park it doesn't feel like

you're in the city anymore... kind of magical... :)

difference between a public park and a private one in MA? Is this

another American thing? Here in TO we only have public parks and

anyone can go to them. Do people have to pay to go to the private

park?

Hi dear ,

I really liked the plaque. It is quite a tribute to your parents.

Thank you for sharing such a lovely Award. Your parents were truly

outstanding, and they have raised a daughter to be likewise.

Love so much,

Imogene
