Guest guest
Courage, You are absolutely right. Grandma is taking TWO anti-depressants and has tried several others. Nothing has really helped. She has been diagnosed with treatment resistant depression and seasonal affective disorder. We are just now about to start light therapy for her. Unfortunately due to her difficulty with words and forming complete thoughts traditional talk therapy isn't an option. Guest guest
emma -- have you all tried remeron? my grandmother takes it for depression/mood/anxiety AND as a bonus it lifted her appetite up within a few days. she had dropped 30 pounds in 5 months and since going on the remeron in late october has gained 10 back. thanks anna Re: AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! - depression Courage, You are absolutely right. Guest guest
, Does your grams take the remeron at night or morning? The reason I ask is because my MIL is taking it at night, but I wanted to give it to her in the morning because of the appetite thing. My home health RN said no, it should only be given at night. I wonder if she's right. lisa Engles SEIU-UHW Shop Steward ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
, Grandma does take remeron and has been taking it since before I moved in with her. So since I wasn't around when she started it I don't know if it did anything to her appetite even in the beginning. Sorry for the short response tonight, I'm once again feeling kind of under the weather. God decided to go ahead and have me faint for no apparent reason in the check out line at the grocery store this afternoon just because my life isn't interesting enough at the moment. And of course my damaged dignity made me go home instead of to a doctor. I just can't catch a break these days seems like... Guest guest
Dimpsy, I am tired, my neck hurts, my head hurts, now my WHOLE back hurts instead of just he right side, and I have a giant (and very sore!) bruise on the left side of my butt! Thats where I landed and the hard tile in the grocery store was not forgiving on my poor little rear. My mom thinks it probably had something to do with by back hurting, my boyfriend thinks I had a stress induced panic attack (although I wasn't feeling particularly stressed right then), and I don't know what to think. I'm going to go to the chiropractor tomorrow to try to get some back pain relief and then I'll go to my regular doc just to keep her in the loop about the fact that I fainted. I don't know that she'll be able to do much but I do feel like I should make an appointment and tell her what happened in case it happens again. Bob is running a few errands this morning and then is going to let me go back to bed and try to relax. For once he has been understanding and not irritated that I don't feel well and need to take a time out. Bout time! ;-) Thanks for your concern, Emma > > > > YES -- only at night -- that's what i was told by her neurologist and what i've learned > from reading up on it elsewhere. > > > > > > my grandmother' s appetite is up across the board on the remeron -- morning, nooon, > and night. > > > > > > how long has your MIL been on it? any change in her appetite? > > > > > > best, > > anna > > > > > > > > > > Re: AHHHHHHHH!!! !!!!!!!! - depression > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > , > > > > Does your grams take the remeron at night or morning? > > > > The reason I ask is because my MIL is taking it at > > > > night, but I wanted to give it to her in the morning > > > > because of the appetite thing. Guest guest
depression makes us more susceptible to pain, or vice versa! i go to the feed store and get Absorbine for horses. it is linament that feels cold when you first apply and then turns warm. i use it on my forehead for sinus headaches, my calves for aching legs, and shoulers, etc. it is so much cheaper than people med, and i carry it on every trip i take. if i sit too long, my legs give me a fit. I have to take it to conferences, as all that sitting in hotel conference chairs absolutely stiffens me up! we must not underestimate what the stress is doing to us. this might be the time to do the stress websites. we all have some symptoms of post traumatic stress syndrome, and just regular stress factors. some of us are in deeper doo-doo than others. I told you before, " Poop Rules! " . Some of us are being ruled by the poop we are in right now. I am the cymbalta commercial personified. i take prozac because it is the best at reducing one level of pain. the fog is finally lifting, and so I may get out to visit with the manatees for a little bit. i have to introduce the new caregiver to Millie this afternoon. Fortunately, Millie still mostly just needs a companion, and not a nurse. I got to talk with the nephew from Alaska, the RN, and he complimented me on the care I was giving his grandma. He hadn't seen her in about a year, and so his mostly noticed her weight loss and the dialation of her eyes. I need to ask him what that signifies. Anybody out there know the answer to that? thanks for keeping me visible as a caregiver, by letting me write to y'all. Emma, I feel for you! Hang in there. Guest guest
, She's been taking 22.5mg every night for at least 6 months. The reason they told me to give it to her at night was because of the appetite enhancement side effects. She's diabetic and at the time continually wanted to eat. We had to put locks on the cupboards and the refrigerator to keep her out of the food. She never thought we fed her. That's one of the worst times we went through, until that fixation seemed to pass. Now that she's been ill, we have been hoping for the return of her appetite. Anyway, they told me it would be better at night, so the worst of the appetite part would have worn off by morning. That's why I figured maybe giving it in the morning would be better for the appetite. lisa Engles SEIU-UHW Shop Steward ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
No I haven't talked to her doc. Last conversation was left with let's wait and see how she does in getting over her recent illness before we play with her meds.
