Guest guest
Ron and - Maybe it's other computers. It seems that when some people write and my message follows, there are no characters and when some people write there are the symbols. Doesn't make sense to me except with what wrote about crossing from system to system. Things that make you go...hmmmm Sandie - not adding the signature line this time! -- Re: signature with funny characters I think it has something to do with copy/paste - copying the signature from one system (w/in Juno) and pasting it into another system (w/in Yahoo) the two providers might be adding some HTML coding on the back end in order to read it... OR better yet, if it's a signature that comes w/ Juno and is added automatically than that coding happens automatically as it comes from one email provider to another email provider... purely guessing here... but if you try typing your response from the web board of this message board, and copy/pasting the signature from Word into your post, I bet it won't happen... But that's too much work so we can deal w/ funny characters and instead just think it's a secret code of sorts. Welcome to LBDcaregivers. Guest guest
I asked two of my sons who work in the computer field about the funny characters. Here are their answers: JW said:Her signature probably contains characters that are not part of the usual ISO Latin 1 (ISO-8859-1) character set and the website is setup to only display that character set or something like that. You could sometimes get something like that by copy and pasting from Microsoft Word into a website form. NT said: likely has to do with character encoding -- there are some characters that aren't getting interpreted correctly so you see " alien characters " I am not sure this helps. Sounds like more alien talk to me Lorraine > Hi - > > I have an area on the heading of my reply email where I can " manage " > signatures. Guest guest
Lorraine, Isn't it amazing how our little ones who had the hardest time understanding the concept that their shoes and school bags couldn't be dropped and left inside the doorway are now telling us things like " ISO Latin 1 (ISO-8859-1) character set " ? lol Courage Re: signature with funny characters > > I think it has something to do with copy/paste - copying the signature > from one system (w/in Juno) and pasting it into another system (w/in > Yahoo) the two providers might be adding some HTML coding on the back > end in order to read it...
