Hi -

I had your name down on the original roster I kept from last year. It's

great hearing from you again and seeing you are still interesting in the

2008 Gathering.

So far still trying to narrow down dates in August. After that we, as a

group, will figure out where it would work best for everyone. Still not

ruling out Canada. We need to get Courage to the gathering as well and with

you in Toronto as well...bonus! Two members in the same area-ish.

Look for 2008 Gathering in the subject line for any new information.

Great seeing a post from you again. So sorry of the struggles you have went

through yet it does seem you have prevailed. Wishing the best of luck and

heartfelt prayers to your father-in-law on his recovery.

Many hugs-

Not really. I haven't traveled much. I guess my plan

was to wait and see what all of you came up with, then

start checking out resources. See what's around the

area I would be going to. My timeshare has an exchange

co, and they have places just about everywhere it

seems like. What do you usually do for housing? Get a

block of hotel rooms? everybody fend for themselves?

There are quite a few different resorts in Michigan.

Hi -

In 2003, once the location was determined I called

Wisconsin to find out what was available. I had a block

of motel rooms held, with no deposit, and gave all the

contact information to the group. It was easier to have

everyone call themselves.

Also this motel put up LBD Caregivers Gathering on their

sign outside. I thought this helped us to find the place and

also got a little exposure out there for anyone else in the

neighborhood. We had a conference room reserved

there for the LBDA meeting as well. All free of charge.

Michigan would be easy for me to get at from Iowa. Again,

I am open and waiting to see what all ideas are floating

around out there. Did this last time as well. Gave some

thoughts, opened it up for others and collectively everyone

figured it out.

Thank you for joining in .

Hi -

Thank you for your suggestions. Greatly appreciated and valid. I shall

keep this with other suggestions so we can weigh which would be best. I do

agree, Sault St. Marie is way way up North in Michigan.

I am looking forward to meeting you in person after all the years here in

the group.

Hugs and one more hug-

Ok, ok, way up north in Michigan is probably not going to work for those who are

driving from way down south (God bless you all for making that trip!). How

about southern Michigan? Is anyone familiar with this area? Donna and Ron and

Emma live in Michigan (probably a bunch more) and maybe they know of wonderful

places we could all meet?

On the beach at the lake (Lake Michigan is better for beaches I think) is always

nice. Or

there are lots of little state parks etc. And Ann Arbor is a really neat little

city in the

summer. But again I may be biased cuz I live very near there. ;-)

If you want a vacation, northern MI is wonderful! If you want a caregivers

meeting the further south in MI the better for everyone driving in.

Donna R

Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in

a nh.

She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine.
