Guest guest
I am happy to be able to participate once again. I have not been active since my mom died in October. Too much stuff to deal with and then my father-in-law suffered a ruptured aorta anurisym. Miraculously he survived the operation to repair the damage. He was in hospital for two months and only returned home the week before Xmas. We went to visit my husband's family for Christmas and then went to visit my sister, so we have also been a way for a while. Although my father-in-law has made an amazing recovery physically, he has no memory of the operation (which is probably a good thing). I think he has had some form of dementia for several years (not LBD), however the family is loath to label him. I feel there is not much we can do as we live so far away. I offered a few suggestions based on my mother's experience, but there are quite a few sibblings involved and no one person seems to have the whole story. My mother in law is quite the optimist and thinks that now that they fixed his physical problem, he will recover his memory. Talk about the cup overflowing. I guess it is just too hard for some people to accept that a man who once quoted Shakespear now thinks he cannot read because he dosn't have the right glasses. I would be interested in attending the 2008 Gathering. No plans yet for August (hopefully some family visits). I live in Toronto and just spent a lovely time with homeland security crossing the border, but considering what we do caring for people with LBD it was a piece a cake. Thanks again
