Hi Dann-

Great ideas. I had hoped to have some type of specialist/neurologist speak

at a meeting. Having the

gathering near a Mayo Clinic is a wonderful idea.

How far away are you from the Mayo in Rochester? Are you planning on

attending??

Minneapolis has connecting flights and direct flights as well. That would

also help.

I shall keep this post with all my others.

If I were in charge <grins> I'd Pick a 3 person committee to make this

solid and just choose a site.

Nothing personal, but I'd assign 3 people from East to West: Say

from Mass, Sandie from Des Moines, and Janet Colello from

California ,. Then I'd recommend that they choose a city that serves as an

airline 'hub' like Denver, Dallas, Minneapolis, Chicago, Atlanta, etc. The

committee could choose its own chairperson.

There are a bunch more people that would also deserve to be on the

committee, but then it gets to large to function.

My personal choice for a city would be Minneapolis, because there could

be a close drive for a day trip ... arranged to visit Mayo Clinic in

Rochester for those that wanted to. It might be possible to get a neurolgist

from there to speak.

For that same reason, the major cities close to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona

and Florida might come back into the picture, even if they aren't airline

hub " cities.

There are abunch of wonderful cities. I love Toronto, and Vancouver, but

my favorite one in Canada is Calgary.

Sandie,

As today is already Friday, January 11th... getting Vacation Days slotted for

those holding down regular jobs is more and more difficult. If the active

Caregiver is going to get a family member, or some one else to stand in as

caregiver, while she / he is gone to a meeting, the same issues apply.

Some people may figure they can get free.. but conflicts will occur at the

last minute. Others may be able to work things out and make it, with enough

advance notice given.

Personally, I won't be flying anywhere, but many on the list may. Choosing a

city that is an Airline " Hub " can cut the air fare cost down a lot, with

services like HOTWIRE.com

I 've already scheduled attending a Art Metal 'Sculpter's work shop in North

Carolina... next summer, and another work shop for Repouse' in North

Minneapolis, so things quickly get in the way.

Personally, I'd consider anything with in 500 miles pretty close as a

possible drive in. I'd probably stretch that a bit and even drive to one in

Dallas or Toronto. Depending on dates and conflicts..

My point was some one ( you and a committee that you choose) needs to make it

" Solid " -firm- this up and 'just' pick a location and a date. Many of us will

have conflicts, regardless. I think that it needs to be a core- committee so

that several will share ownership of the idea... and work to make this

" wonderful " . There can be sub committees offering ideas... for afternoon,

evenign sessions. Some of us can -only- drink a little wine <grins>.

Best of Wishes.
