Guest guest
Hi Jan- I remember back in high school my mom was in bed upstairs. Dad was at work. I heard her rustling and trying to yell. I went to make sure she was ok. She was lying on her left side and talking as if she had cotton in her mouth I couldn't completely wake her. The next day my grandma (her mom) had a stroke and was paralyzed on the left side. One morning I was getting ready for high school and mom was telling me of a dream she had that someone passed away. She was confused about it all. Thought it felt like someone close to her but they lived far away and she had to travel to the funeral. I came home from school to see my mom sitting in a rocking chair completely silent. She was grieving over her brother, Verne, who passed away in Oklahoma and they had to travel there for the funeral. Then when my mom was in the hospital with her cancer. I bought her 2 yellow miniature roses on a Monday. Tuesday she went into a coma and Wednesday February 9 she passed away. Tuesday the flowers had wilted over, Wednesday after she passed away one was standing upright and beautiful, one was wilted and shriveled. I was 19. My aunt showed me the flowers and dad asked if I wanted to take the vase since I bought them for mom. It took me quite a while to take that vase home. Anyone who knows me knows yellow roses are my choice of flowers...even one of the flowers on my tattoo of 4 flowers.. starts with a yellow one for my mom. The stories go on about our family. My brother, who really isn't a believer told a story at Thanksgiving dinner of how he was mushroom hunting and heard dad's voice. Our dad and uncle used to take us mushroom hunting. Steve thought about taking his son's but ended up going alone. As he was out he heard dad's voice, he said plain as day say... " We brought you, now you bring them. " He knew right then he would take his own boys next time he went out. Anyhow, it has been fun recalling the gifts people receive. I think these people come into our lives when we are totally ready to receive them. I know my own mom has visited as recently as Christmas time and my dad at New Year's Eve. It is comforting knowing they are still around me and that I feel, know, and see their presence. Amazing story you have shared of your friend that worked for United. I think the sign could have came any variety of ways but a gust of wind, at the same time as the song was a perfect and definite reminder of the father that had passed. It takes a lot of energy to muster up something like that. And for Jim to see his brother is awesome. My mom had done the same before she was in the hospital. Saw her mom and her brother, Verne, speaking to both. I was sitting on the hospital bed (we had in our home) with her. Thanks for all this Jan. I have enjoyed corresponding with you! We were all fanning ourselves with napkins or whatever we could find to keep cool. It was outdoors in the backyard of a very close friend of the family's and umbrella tables were placed all over the yard and it ran along a creek bed. We were all eating a beautifully catered lunch and a lady was singing, " The Wind Beneath My Wings " that Bette Midler sang. And all of a sudden a huge gust of wind blew and blew the umbrellas out of the tables and some of the umbrellas went into the creek. It was so amazing that there was a hush and we all looked at each other thinking the samething. My friend whose father died said that when her mother died, she got her mother's cat. My friend lives in Southern CA and her mother lived in Northern CA. She drove to N. CA to pick up the cat and drove back with it. One day she and the cat were laying on the sofa and the cat put it's back up and hissed and there was nothing there that my friend could see. I have another friend whose husband died of cancer and she found pennies in the strangest places. She would open a drawer and there would be a penny on top of her clothes (She lived alone) She would find them at the foot of a figurine on her end tables and one time she was telling a friend about these strange " Pennies from Heaven " happenings in an elevator and the friend said, " Like the one ontop of your shoe " It reminded me of the movie, " Ghost " Anyway, I believe there definately is a possibility. I would love to hear your experiences that have happened........Jan ppark4915@... wrote: Hi, Courage, You have really been on my mind lately. Wow is right! I find the story about your dad to be both comforting and too weird for words at the same time. Maybe this is the sign that you have been looking for. I have seen several things that were too weird for words since my dad died, but I know they did happen. It is very exciting to consider the possibilities. I am anxious to hear what other people think about this! Hugs, Piper **************Start the year off right.
