If anyone is out of school or work for March 21st then you can do the Genes Day

on the day before or anytime that week. Many will probably be out of school (at

least in America) because that is Good Friday (a Christian Holiday)

So...don't let the holiday stop your Genes Day. Just do it earlier in the

week!

As for Genes Day @ the boys schools.....March 20 is a half-day and

March 21st is a teacher work-day (kids no school!) but I am working with Trey's

Principal to work with the Teachers like leaving a collection Jar in the

Teacher's lounge between now and then....Also that Friday is the day before the

kids' spring break.....(I might do like an hour presentation just for the

teachers on that day if they can set aside that time frame to do the Adult

activities or even have them do the Kid activities....)

Head-Start by policy cannot just support one " Charity " or " Cause " so that's

out.....I don't have school on Fridays (most of my classes are

web-based/self-paced easier on gas that way...)

So I'm going internet style for Genes day LOL

That is fantastic! WAY TO GO!!!!! All of these avenues are a great way to spread

awareness! See...it doesn't matter if you do not work outside of the home, you

can still get involved in Genes Day in a huge way!

Let us know how things work out and good luck! You could be the TOP TEAM

LEADER!!!!!!

EVERYONE: Please share your ideas on what you are doing for Genes Day! We all

want to hear about them! And, be sure to make your team and send the link to

so we can put it on the site! This is the only way we will be able to track

teams and know who is the top 3 teams!

Sue: No typos! You did great with one eye! LOL

I just wanted to send you guys a little note telling

you about one of my accomplishments for gene day. My

cousin is home economics teacher at a high school.

Her friend is the child development teacher. She is

going to see if on March 21st in the child develoment

class her friend would teach about ds and mds. I

thought it was a wonderful idea. I am sending her the

packet of information for adults and kids. I am very

excited about spreading awareness. My other cousin is

a teachers aide for children with disablities. I have

a call into to her to see if she can organize

something in her school also. I also sent an

e-mail out to everyone on my e-mail list with the

attached information asking them to try to organize a

gene day at their places of work. So far I got one

positive response from my friend who owns a small

company in florida and I am very excited.

I might be mia again for a few days. I got that damn

eye infection back and I am waiting for the doctor to

call. I am having a bit of a problem seeing out of

one eye so sorry for the typos and errors in this

e-mail.

Genes Day is more than just a " day " This is a celebration of mosaic Down

syndrome and a fun, unique way to spread awareness to your community. So...you

need to think about it in these terms....

From January 14-March 21 you are spreading awareness of mosaic Down syndrome!

This gives you a great excuse to tell other people about your FANTASTIC children

and at the same time, you can raise money for IMDSA and receive wonderful books

and other resources as well as a wonderful T-shirt that will help you continue

to spread awareness throughout the year!

So...if you are doing Genes Day at a school and the school is closed March

21st then just do the actual Genes Day on March 20th! (or, if you live in

Australia, do your Genes Day March 19th!) It really is no big deal what day you

do the actual day!

World Down Syndrome Day is a week-long celebration! Genes Day is also a week

long celebration!

So...make your teams, raise your money, compete for the prizes and more

importantly spread awareness on MDS and have fun!
