Guest guest
Carol, Millie might be dehydrated since she is asking for water so much. Dehydration can cause them to have weird behaviors too. My husband does that restless in and out of bed thing when he is dehydrated. He starts to pull and tug on sheets and takes pillow cases off and real restless type things, but the toileting issues sound a lot like lack of visuospatial awareness to me. Millie is probably having an off day and in a day or two will be back to herself. That is why LBD is Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. One day is up and the next down. You never know where you are at with a LO. We have started her on antibiotics for a suspected UTI. Can't see taking her into the emergency room for thousands of dollars of tests, because they never just examine the pee. Of course it is too late to get her into the dr. office. We do have the test strips, so we can test it ourselves. Trying to keep Millie in a small curtained area is crazy. All of the sudden today I had to chop up Millie's food. She is in and out of her bed. She has asked for water many times today, so that is good. We are upping the hours of care because she has gotten so much more helpless in the past few days. The manatees should be up our river with the cold snap we just had, but I doubt I can leave Millie long enough to go play. Monday morning is going to be hard. I had such high hopes for getting a lot done these last two weeks. Thanks for listening! carol > > > Carol, I forgot to mention, because of the lack of spatial > > awareness I fogot to mention that sometimes the dark rug seems to > > look like an open space to drop into and they are afraid to step in > > that space. Guest guest
Carol, I wonder if you can thin Gatorade down with water and it might be less " sour. " Same with any thing she is drinking. Hugs, Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine. Re: Millie doesn't know where the toilet is/Carol Janet, She hasn't been drinking as much lately, and I am aware because I have spent so much time with her. She thinks Gatorade tastes sour, now. She thought my diet cola tasted spicy. I will also get contrasting bath mat as she still insists on taking her own baths. I have called the middle brother to let him know how things are going. We don't want any arguments about Millie's care if things turn south. going to the store to get bath mat and toilet rug.
