Thanks Emma. Its not so much fear of having the car I'm traveling in searched

but of my actual person! I'm prepared to battle a lot of fear and the reality

of having panic attacks all the way to the caregivers gathering but I am hoping

to avoid being taken into a private room for the " big search " ! lololololololol

- though I wouldn't be laughing if this really happened. :)

Re: Passport pics

I would say that whatever you take the pic wearing you should plan to wear

that (or NOT

wear that if you decide to go bald) when you come through the border. I would

say go

with the scarf. It might just be me being paranoid but a wig might make an

extra surly

border officer suspicious for no reason and God knows you don't want to waste

time

getting your car searched!!

So thats my thoughts on that ;-)

I wear in the

summer months as a wig is just too hot). My fear is that I will get stopped

trying to cross

the border into Michigan. Should I get a note from my doctor explaining about

the

Alopecia?

Hi ,

I was thinking the same thing myself. I'm going to call around and see and

bring both my wig and scarf just in case. The bald head comes with me where

ever I go so if they insist on this option I'm good to go.

I really should have given this more thought as a few months ago I still had a

lot of my eyelashes and my eyebrows were fuller - now they are nearly gone. I

should have had my picture taken then. I did manage to grow some hair back on

top of my head as well as eyebrows and eyelashes after 3 years of complete

baldness but it didn't last long. Oh well, as the expression goes " hair today,

gone tomorrow! " :)

Re: Passport pics

Hey Courage,

You pose a very good question. I did a google to find out restrictions with

passport

pictures here and came up with this: . Photos must show a full head without

any head

covering, unless it is worn for religious beliefs or medical reasons. However,

both edges of

the face must be clearly visible.

I would suggest calling whatever place you intend to get your picture taken to

ask so that

you arrive prepared for whatever they suggest. Perhaps even a note from your

doctor

saying you need a head covering for a medical condition might be enough. You

could try

emailing or calling your MP or the government office involved. It will be

interesting to hear

the outcome.

The drug store where I had my picture taken even had me take off my glasses I

wear all the time.

Courage, I would think picture with a wig and MD letter. Wear the wig for when

you need it for the border patrol. Then back to scarfs. I have to wear glasses

to drive!
