Guest guest
I've had no surgeries other than the one on my finger when it was badly cut... they had to open it and check for nerve and tendon damage before sewing it back up. Guest guest
Hi, The removal of the appendix is not undertaken lightly. Most people only have to have it removed when it becomes extremely inflamed. If that happens to you, believe me, you will know... It is painful before the surgery is done and you are sick enough to want the thing out. The risk of not having this done is Peritonitis, which will kill you. That is what happens if the appendix should rupture inside you before it is removed. Yes, some people become ill with other things after removal of the appendix, but there is no choice for those whose appendix starts giving them trouble. It is a surgical emergency. Guest guest
That's a darn good question Chris. I know that the full purpose of the appendix has never really been discovered. I think the closest they can figure is that it's like the tonsils, sort of. Big thing that gathers poisons out of the body. You know, it goes to reason that there could be a problem there with the immune system in that, once this has taken on all the poisons it can and/or been removed, there may be nothing left in the body to stop the antibody attacks. I didn't get this from any particular source. That's just my theory. You gave me something else to research here. I'm thinking that mine was removed when my hysterectomy was done, but my memory is vague there, so I'm not really sure. I'm thinking that the doctor mentioned something about this, but I didn't pay particular attention to these issues at that time, so I'm not really sure. This is very interesting. Have you got a personal experience there to share with us? surgery > Hi all I was just wondering if anyone in the group > has their Appendix removed? Guest guest
, you are right. They proved it was related to immune system in 2001, I remember cause I worked for a health site and wrote an article on it. Jan > That's a darn good question Chris. Guest guest
Bingo!!! Now you've got to know that I'm gonna start researching around on this one because I really had never given it a thought until rattled my chains there. This is during the time that I started having hyper mode, but I owned it up totally to emotional things and estrogen loss (so I thought at the time; I found out later that I was in estrogen overdrive, the opposite). This is worth snooping around about. I've never heard it mentioned in ANY of the thyroid articles I've read or posted. Re: surgery > , you are right. Guest guest
I'd like to hear what you find, ... for the record.. I started out hyper, went into hyper storm, got RAI and lost my thyroid.... I still have my appendix and tonsils.... was allergic to cow's milk as an infant and given soy formula.... did fine on cow's milk after that... until my RAI then had lactose intolerance.... after about 3 years... I'm fine again... Topper () On Fri, 21 Nov 2003 19:55:57 -0600 " " writes: > Bingo!!! Guest guest
So glad you were able to get in sooner. Best of luck with your surgery and a speedy recovery! Love & Light, Subject: Surgery To: tetheredspinalcord Date: Saturday, October 25, 2008, 3:42 PM Hello All, Thank you for all of your responses. I have decided to go with Dr. Ahn. He is very understanding and compassionate. He explained everything in detail: how he will monitor things to prevent nerve damage, my specific risks, and what will happen if I don't have the surgery. My symptoms are rapidly progressing and he fit me into his schedule for surgery this Wednesday down at s Hopkins. CHOP was going to make me wait until November, but I'm loosing feeling and function faster everyday; I cannot wait that long. Thank you for all your support. This is a scary thing to face, and I haven't met anyone else going through it. I'm glad I found this group! Thanks,
