Guest guest
Many molds, including aspergillus/penicillium type species, also create mycotoxins that create immunosuppression. So the implication that only immunosuppressed people should be afraid of mold because the spores might germinate in their body or in wet places in their homes leaves out the fact that heavy mold exposure can lead to fungal mycoses due to this immunosuppression. And that immunosuppression causes all sorts of other problems as well. (Those cancer chemotherapy and transplant drugs are often among the most toxic substances known-) People with cancer take them because they don't have any alternative. People who have had transplants take them so they wont reject the transplanted organ. People in moldy buildings 'take' them - INVOLUNTARILY. Guest guest
I appreciate you commenting on that article. I agree with your comments that toxic mold can do harm to people who don't have immune problems, and I get tired of the articles that make it sound like only immunosuppressed people can be harmed by toxic mold. That's basically what my inspector told me...it's the m ycotoxns & amt. of time exposed that lead to the immunosuppression, not that my immune system was compromised first, but came after the prolonged exposure. Hugs, Cheryl PS I'm just glad that the species I have at the house are not as toxic as the ones @ the condo. I could barely get out of bed, think straight, was vomiting every month & couldn't even walk w/o bumping into walls @ the condo, so in my experience, some species are worse than others, for my body anyway.
