Guest guest
I've always heard that bleach does nothing to kill mold better to use 40 weight CLEAR Peroxide that you get from a beauty supply store. It's amazing stuff but be careful and use rubber gloves, a mask and use a cotton cloth. Works great. I keep mine in a spray bottle diluted with water or use it straight if needed. I use it to clean my drains and around the faucets. I have heard that drs. offices use hydrogen peroxide to clean because there is no odor like bleach. Sue Does anyone know if fungi can build up a resistance to bleach or chlorine dioxide? Guest guest
I don't know if it can build up a resistance but a friend who has a degree from Clemson University in construction did a little experiment for me when I was cleaning my items to prove that pure bleach does cause mold to be worse but a proper mix of bleach and water does clean mold. He took pure bleach and sprayed a little on a piece of wood. He took a 3 part mixture of water and one part bleach and sprayed it on the other end of the wood. This was done outside of course and with extreme caution. The pure bleach portion grew green mold and the mixture of water and bleach made the wood look lighter and cleaner. So, his experment showed that the improper mixture of bleach can cause mold growth while the proper mixture can help. I know the arguements are in about bleach and mold so I cleaned most of my items with ammonia or vinegar...I can't stand the smell of bleach so I don't use much anyway. > > Does anyone know if fungi can build up a resistance to bleach or > chlorine dioxide? > > Thanks, > Sharon >
Guest guest
Thanks for this post Jackie. I asked the question wrong but I'm glad to have all the information on bleach. I'm really wondering about chlorine dioxide which is a different composition then bleach. Someone suggested I write to Dr. Croft and I may as he is a veterinarian as well as a Phd. Apparantly they give chlorine dioxide to animals to get rid of pathogens including mold. It makes more sense to me to give animals chlorine dioxcide than antibiotics but what do I know I'm just a moldy trying to get well. Guest guest
Thanks Sue. I have been using bleach for my drains in the kitchen but the smell comes back after a few days. I will try 40 weight clear peroxide. Is it expensive and can you buy it a gallon size? Also I wish I could find someone who knows about chlorine dioxide the activated version of sodium chlorate. Are there any chemists on this board? Sharon Hanson > > > I've always heard that bleach does nothing to kill mold better to use 40 > weight CLEAR Peroxide that you get from a beauty supply store.
