Guest guest
She should look into doctors in the Rhinebeck area. It's south of Albany, but there once was a reknowned Lyme center there. Wish I could be of more help. Barth --- S> Does anyone know a doctor west of Albany, NY. A woman I know has Lyme S> Disease as well as mold exposure. S> Thanks for your help. Guest guest
I'm not sure....I do know that I had cancelled an appointment with him (in 2005 or 2006 ?) because I didn't have a way to pay for the visit. He wanted my medical records and was going to do blood work, so I thought he was a treating physician. Since then I have heard that he doesn't treat patients, so I don't know why. Does anyone in this group know what the situation is with that? --- In , Patilla DaHun <glypella@...> wrote: > > I thought that Dr. Johanning wasn't able to prescribe or treat for > mold? > > Barth > > > >
Guest guest
It's an odd thing. Someone here went to see him and did all this testing and he said she had mold illness but he wasn't treating anymore or something silly. Seems he could have told her that up front. I don't remember who it was. > > I'm not sure....I do know that I had cancelled an appointment with > him (in 2005 or 2006 ?)
Guest guest
I just know that I was very disappointed when I went all the way to Dr. Johanning and he suddenly resigned after my visit. I waited 8 months for the appointment paid alot of money expecting to be treated. Plus the lawyers I had waiting for my visit gave up after hearing he resigned. I was given a number to talk to him. It seemed like it was his home phone. He would just answer say hello. It seemed weird. Finally I got the report and said I was disabled and linked my illness to the mold and he suggested sporanax (spell) but no one would give it to me. My mom flew up from Florida so the plane ticket and then train tickets and hotel. Very disappointed. I don't know what he does these days. I am only telling my experience and I have heard others were disappointed. This was sometime around 2000. --- > > Patilla DaHun <glypella@...> wrote: I thought that Dr. Johanning wasn't able to prescribe or treat for > mold? > > Barth
Guest guest
You're not alone. I was less than impressed with my visit to him when he was with NYS. He was very condescending - especially about my birds. Of course, he would have been impressed with my background with them had he known it. He left that office and started his own practice, one that I couldn't afford since he no longer took insurance. His office didn't even send my company a statement demanding 10 years' worth of air quality reports. He gave me the papers and had ME send it to them. Of course, they never responded - nor did he or his office follow up on it. Disgusting! Guest guest
Patilla, You know that people who keep birds are predisposed to a host of conditions that may be related to the tiny feathers in the air that get into everything. At least I rmember reading that long ago (after I sort of bonded to a friend's parrot and wanted to see what was involved in having one myself. I ended up deciding against it.. although I love them couldn't ever consider getting one..)
Guest guest
I'm actually involved in a litigation for mold exposure...stachyb, aspergillius, pencillium..My son has asthma, I have asthma, I have had a breast tumor removed (benign), a hurthle cell thyroid tumor and half of my thyroid removed, and my husband now has cancer. The asthma was diagnosed before we left our home 3 1/2 years ago because of mold and everything else was diagnosed within 2 years of our leaving our home. Dr. Johanning is our doctor. He is an expert in mycotoxins. So he is putting all of your medical history together and then relates what is tied to mold exposure and what isn't. His years of work are published and he is probably one of the tops in his field of the affects of mold exposure on your body and your health. Hope this answers questions. > > > > I thought that Dr. Johanning wasn't able to prescribe or treat for > > mold? > > > > Barth > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Thanks Barb - good to know. I guess if I make an appointment to see him or any other doctor, I will ask the receptionist if the doctor is just collecting info for research or if he is actually a treating physician. That would be a lot of money to spend if a doctor wasn't even going to treat you. (I think the initial visit was supposed to be $600, plus all the expenses of going there.....) The info gained from this group is so valuable. Thankfully, my health has improved from avoidance of exposure ,eating right, etc. > > > > I'm not sure....I do know that I had cancelled an appointment with > > him (in 2005 or 2006 ?) >
Guest guest
Yes, the person who got all the testing that said they were sick from mold, then couldn't find anyone to treat them...other doctors didn't know how or paid no attention to the test results. > > Thanks Barb - good to know.
