Mechanism by which one stachybotrys mycotoxin can cause cholestasis (blockage of bile flow from liver to gallbladder)

Dr. Shoemaker mentions in his book that many mycotoxins can cause

cholestasis, which means that bile flow from the gallbladder stops.

This is an experiment where research was done on cyclosporin A which

is a member of a family of immunosuppressive mycotoxins sometimes

found in stachybotrys (see ref below) that is widely used as a drug to

stop organ rejection in transplants, etc. (There has been LOTS of

research funded on cyclosporine, including on its neurotoxicity to

many people)

The mechanisms of action might be shared with some other immunotoxic

mycotoxins that have also been studied for use in immunosuppression,

cancer chemotherapy, etc.
