Gladys,

I believe the proper procedure is to sign your name and then put " for <your

Mother's

name> " after it. I would enclose a copy of the POA just so they know. I did this

for my

Mother and it worked. The only problem is that every state is just a little bit

different in

what you can do with POA.

Good Luck,

I would take the POA to the bank and have them add you to Mom's account.

Then you can just sign checks normally. (This is what I did.)

As I recall, I signed my name and after my name wrote POA (and included

a copy of the POA paperwork.)

POA. Slight issue of semantics. I believe it is because you have a Power of

Attorney.. which makes you the Attorney in Fact

Rather than writing Power of Attorney.. I wrote " Attorney in Fact "

So for my mother, I signed: Margret by Dann , Attorney- in-

fact, which sufficed most of the time. Yep, I carried a copy of both the

recorded general power of attorney and the medical power of attorney. Mayo

Clinic, for example, I believe wanted copies of both.

What I heard from someone along the way was to always sign your name for your

Mom with the POA following. If not they can hold you responsible for anything

you have signed without it. And I think I heard this in signing your LO into a

nh.

After that I always used the POA after my name,

Hugs,

Donna R

Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in

a nh.

She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine.

POA Question

account. Do I just sign her name to the checks or do I sign my name and

indicate that I have POA?

Hi DW and Gladys, DW has given you the correct procedure.

Unless Banks have changes, that was the way it had tobe done when I

worked in Banks.

Love a bunch

Can you set it up to pay the bills online through the bank? If needed

my daughter could pay my bills online, because all she needs is my

login and password to my account.
