Guest guest
Hi , You asked how to get insurance to pay for out of network.... here is what I did: - Have primary care doc write a letter requesting. - Have a specialist back up primary care doc. - Call insurance company daily. - Find out the name of the insurance medical director and call him (your primary care doc's office can find this out). - Call the company that purchases the insurance and talk to the benefits dept... and tell them about your plight. Then ask them to call insurance to encourage them to speed up the process. - Appeal as many times as you can..... even if it seems like you've lost, keep calling daily. - Contact the state board of insurance and file a complaint. I think what helped to is that I stressed that this was rare and that traditional techniques could cause diseases similar to mad cow disease (or even mad cow disease with the bovine patch) and there is a two name disease you can get from a cadaver patch.... can't recall..... also many doctor trim away the neck which can cause neck instability and I stressed that this would effect me as a worker and my future earning power. To be honest, from all I have talked to this is the BIG issue.... especially for repeat surgery people. Another thing I told them is if it were not done right, I would need another surgery.
