Guest guest
I would say that whatever you take the pic wearing you should plan to wear that (or NOT wear that if you decide to go bald) when you come through the border. I would say go with the scarf. It might just be me being paranoid but a wig might make an extra surly border officer suspicious for no reason and God knows you don't want to waste time getting your car searched!! So thats my thoughts on that ;-) Emma > > Hi All, > > I hope this isn't too stupid a question but I was thinking about when I take my passport pic - should I wear my wig, no wig (therefore bald) or a scarf (which is what I wear in the summer months as a wig is just too hot). My fear is that I will get stopped trying to cross the border into Michigan. Should I get a note from my doctor explaining about the Alopecia? > Thanks, > Courage > > >
Guest guest
As long as you have the proper documentation (ie a valid passport) you should have NO PROBLEMS at all. I only said that because I personally had one bad experience with a US border officer coming from Windsor back into Detroit. And that was because it was less than 6 months after 9/11. Before that you could go back and forth to Canada with just a US drivers license no problem and my friends and I didn't realize that after 9/11 we needed a passport or US birth certificate to get BACK into the US. On the way into Canada a drivers license was fine!! The Canadian officials were all like " Yes, Welcome! Nice to see you! Come on in! " But the US official on the way back must have been having a bad day because she held us up for almost an hour yelling at us. Like 4 college girls in an Eddie Bauer Explorer were a big friggin threat to national security! I REALLY don't think you have anything to worry about. And worst case scenario you can whip the wig off and really freak them out!!! ;-) Might be funny...*grin* Emma > > > > Hi All, > > > > I hope this isn't too stupid a question but I was thinking about when I take my passport > pic - should I wear my wig, no wig (therefore bald) or a scarf (which is what I wear in the > summer months as a wig is just too hot). Guest guest
Hey Courage, You pose a very good question. I did a google to find out restrictions with passport pictures here and came up with this: • Photos must show a full head without any head covering, unless it is worn for religious beliefs or medical reasons. However, both edges of the face must be clearly visible. I would suggest calling whatever place you intend to get your picture taken to ask so that you arrive prepared for whatever they suggest. Perhaps even a note from your doctor saying you need a head covering for a medical condition might be enough. You could try emailing or calling your MP or the government office involved. It will be interesting to hear the outcome. > > Hi All, > > I hope this isn't too stupid a question but I was thinking about when I take my passport pic - should I wear my wig, no wig (therefore bald) or a scarf (which is what I wear in the summer months as a wig is just too hot). Guest guest
I am afraid of border patrol, so I won't even try to be cute here~ What did you do for driver's license? Tiara, is probably not the way to go, and the Canadian flag as a scarf is probalby not in great taste either. I am guessing if you are sober, anything will work.
