I never heard of PACE. I looked at their website which sounds like it's

something I should have known about--and need to know! I'm trying to

understand who is eligible, what is costs, etc. (for others in my support

group) but their website and information is quite complicated. I'll have

to follow up on this. THANK YOU, JUNE.

I think you can get help through Medicare if the

doctor prescribes it, but probably will be some cost

to you. If he was on Medicaid, I think it would be

done without cost. If he meets the eligibility

requirements for Hospice, they will provide in-home

care with baths, dressing, Depends, meds, and other

things. You would have to talk to the doctor and see

if he would qualify.

Also, I just heard about a program last week called

PACE - it is administered through Medicare, and the

person doesn't have to be terminal to get it, only

needs to be 55. They can received in-home care or day

care. If you Google PACE, it will bring up all the

details. It just started in Topeka about a year ago,

and has had very good results. One of the local

Hospices here administers it; there are about 40

nationwide, so probably not every area has it yet, but

it certainly is worth checking out. The main purpose

is to keep people in their own homes as opposed to

assisted living or nursing home placement. If you

can't access anything about it, post again, and I will

forward the information to you.
