Cholestyramine is not an " antifungal " but it is what many people use

for mold illness, as oposed to fungal infections of the lungs,

sinuses, etc. Cholestyramine doesn't prevent the damage mold toxins do

as they enter the body, but it can removes toxins from enterohepatic

recirculation.

They build up in people and that causes major issues.

On a recent post, someone mentioned Diflucan but I thought that was

given to women for yeast infection. What about Sporanox or Lamisil?

Brain,

Ask your doctor which is best for the molds you were exposed to. Dr.

Marinkovich used Nizol antifungal spray for compromised sinus, and

told me that Diflucan, and Nystatin don't touch penicillium and

aspergillus exposures. He said one needs Sporonox for those mold

exposures. Another mold friend was told by her doctor that VFend is

the one to help with Fusarium exposures. I'm not a doctor but I would

ask your treating doctor which antifungal is best for your exposures.

Seems like some alternative doctors believe that all mold exposures

lead to Candidiasis and treat with Diflucan. Do some more research...

Amphotericin B (in the form of a nasal wash) has worked great for my

sinuses (which also has helped my lungs). I've been using it for

almost 2 years along with avoiding the moldy indoor work environment

as much as possible. Before using it, I had frequent profuse

nosebleeds, coughed up bloody foam, frequent asthma attacks,

fatigue, frequent loss of sense of smell or taste, fatigue,

digestive problems, coughing, frequent difficulty speaking,

intolerance of very cold foods or beverages, etc.....

It really is only for the sinuses. It kills the live mold spores and

washes away the dead spores. You can find information by using a

search engine for The Mayo Clinic-chronic fungal sinusitis or Dr.

A. Sherris or Dr. Jens Ponikau.

It's too bad I can't drink the stuff - maybe I'd feel totally better.
