Guest guest
Carol, Glad you got some rest. Just had the greatest idea! The manatee will be our mascots! They are the peace that comes into your life when you need to be awake and need some peace. That sounds like a good mascot to me! You need a tape recording of all those sounds you get to hear that we don't. And you can use it when you don't get to visit with the manatees. Glad it seems to have been a fairly quiet weekend for you all in all. It is so hard to work and do caregiving. I couldn't have done it without my daughter who told me she was " doing it " for me. She keep tabs on me as much as I did Mom. Have a good Sunday too. Hugs, Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine. OT-Manatee Report- Great Day! Millie had her bath, I ran home and got my shower, and then off to the water to look for manatees. I went to my favorite spot to watch them and had great luck. Several manatees chewed on my anchor rope and one even untied me from a post where I had looped a rope. I was about ready to give up, and figuring I had nothing to lose, I slapped the water with my feet a little, and several manatees approached. One was really friendly and came right up to be petted and kissed. She continued to approach my waverunner, and while I draped myself over the seat so I could lean down to water level, she returned numerous times to have me scratch her back and then rolled over so I would scratch her tummy. We must have drifted for over an hour with her contiunually reapproaching for me to scratch her tummy. I scratched her flippers, kissed her on the nose, and even scratched barnacles from her skin. I know she was a female, as I could see the mammary glands underneath her flippers. She and I spent the afternoon enamored with one another. Her skin feels much like elephant's skin, with wrinkles, and all. I have never gotten so much skin to skin contact with any like today! Millie did fine while I was gone, and is stil asleep. It apppears she got up and drank her Gatorade. She really likes the grape reduced sugar flavor. So, there you have it! A great day with some of the oldest mammal species left on earth. Nothing like a friendly seacow to escape the Lewy-lewy for a bit. If this same manatee finds me again this season, I believe I will name her Lewlabelle. Since I have shared her story with all my Lewy buddies. Carol
