Guest guest
Ladies & Men too, We have to remind ourselves ITS THE DISEASE and God bless them they can't help it. I have found myself dong the same things you have posted. One thing you may or may not know. Hospice will come in and help with baths and too, they stay 3 hours on Wed for me to have respite care. I didn't think I could get help from them but the lady told me she had an incurable disease and was dying even tho it may take more than 6 months and that they had one patient they had been seeing for over a year and another one over 2 years. They have been seeing Ruth (my sister) 3 days a week, Mon and Fri they do the bathing thing and wipe down the bath room, on Wed they change the linens, vacuum, clean the bath room, dust, the bath, do her laundry and mop, so she is here 3 hours A nurse comes once a week to check her BP and in general find out how she is doing. I too had to address the eating problem. The nurse said that was part of the dying process, not meaning she would die in the next month but a part of dying. She has lost about 5 lbs in the last 6 weeks, but that is ok, she weighted 204. I was told if she only ate one meal a day that was ok, but to keep things out where she could get to it, and wanted to snack (sp) now I can't spell She loves oranges, so we try and keep those out, she likes ice cream, so I offer that, and then there is always insure plus. I think now they have other stuff that taste better. One could always offer that in ice cream as a milk shake. I have about come to conclusion to let them have whatever they want, these people are not going to live long and my sister is 90. I say that and yet I know if she goes to the hospital I will be the one having to stay with her, so I do try and get her to eat good food, but I am not going to battle over it. We just have to pick and choose our battles. Those like bathing I will battle over that, for sure I don't want anyone smelling her, but then in the scheme of life what does it really matter? Oh well, just some thoughts that has worked for me. Jayn in S GA **************Start the year off right.
