Guest guest
Hi Cassie I use tobramycin & saline in the nebulizer. The Pari Pep is attached to the nebulizer. The Flutter is harder to clean than the Peri Pep. The Pari Pep can be boiled & cleaned in the dishwasher or soaked in an antibacterial solution. The Pari Pep can also be used on its own to bring up sputum. They work on slightly different principles. As I work full time I am time poor so I prefer to do the nebulizing & PD at the same time. I think they both work equally well for me. Keep well everyone. Theresa Subject: Pari pep v acapellaTo: bronchiectasis Date: Thursday, July 3, 2008, 9:08 PM Hi Theresa, Thanks for your input regarding the pari pep. I've never used it before so I just have a couple of questions for you: 1) Do you put medication inside the nebulizer and if so, what medicine? 2) How many minutes do you do the pari pep for? 3) Isn't it a hassle setting up and cleaning compared to the flutter? 4) How is the pari pep different from the pari nebulizer (I have the pari nebulizer only which I use with saline if I need to bring sputum up for a culture)? If you do have the pari nebulizer also, does the pari pep bring up much more sputum than the pari nebulizer? 5) Which do you feel brings up more sputum -- the pari pep or the flutter? The effectiveness of each is very important, of course! Thanks, Cassie
Guest guest
Hi Theresa, Thanks so much for your response regarding the pari pep. Just curious, how many minutes a day do you use it for? Also, how well does the inhaled tobramycin and saline work for you? Does that medicine help reduce your sputum? Do you take the tobramycin everyday and if so, is your doctor worried about abx resistance? Anyways, I hope you're doing okay and that the tobramycin is keeping you well. Guest guest
Hi Cassie I use the tobramycin twice a day. It is not Tobi just IV tobramycin. My dr does not seem to be concerned about resistance. My resistance to antibiotics is constantly changing. I stopped all antibiotics for abou t 3 months & all the resistances disappeared. I have a problem with pseudonomas but I was told by my GP that the more resistant pseudo becomes it can also become weaker. It is very complicated & I can't quite get my had around it. Good luck with your decision regarding the Flutter & the Pari Pep. I was als told by a physio that the best way to get rid of the sputum is by exercise. Keep well everyone.
