Guest guest
,We used PlumSmart juice to hide the taste of the Natural Calm. However, magnesium has a pretty powerful bitter taste...it will be hard to hide it. Will he eat applesauce? It might hide good in there.Tracie I have tried Natural Calm...but it changes the flavor of juice...my son is super sensitive to changes in his OJ. What are some of the other brands that work for some of you? Are there any that taste good enough to drink straight, without diluting? Many thanks!! Guest guest
Bluebonnet Liquid Blueberry Cal Mag. My dd takes it from a syringe followed by a sip of Rice Dream Rice Drink. She's had a BM every day since I discovered it 4 years ago. It's been a miracle for us. Her constipation was so bad we would have to lay her on the floor with her knees to her chest to make her go because she would hold it in from fear of pain because her stool was so hard & large. Guest guest
we use the lemon flavor and put in fresh lemonade It's very important to use a fresh squeezed lemon. This is good for the body and reduced inflamation. IF PEG is creating calcium oxalate crystals, in which we suspect it does, the fresh lemon helps break those down also. I can't stress enough to drink one fresh squeezed lemon a day in your drink. (fresh lemonade) I'll post the old post it came from and was a god sent for stinging urinary issues. Lemon is a natural cleanser also so wellness docs recommend for everyone. Guest guest
We use Integrative Therapeutics Liquid Calcium Magnesium, vanilla flavor. Our pediatrician is comfortable with a daily dosage between 2 tsp. and 1 Tablespoon and this seems to be what my daughter needs. Although, we have friends who only use 1/2 tsp. In addition, because my daughter doesn't eat much dairy, the added calcium is a plus. http://www.integrativeinc.com/Products/Products-by-Health-Concern/Musculoskeleta\ l-and-Connective-Tissue/Bone/206012-Liquid-Calcium-Magnesium.aspx > > Bluebonnet Liquid Blueberry Cal Mag. Guest guest
I haven't posted here in some time, although it's not for lack of still struggling with daughter's BM's happening less than two weeks at a time . We've tried everything - cutting dairy, gluten, adding probiotics, even an adjustment, and she'll have the feeling but still avoid going. I've come to realize part of it is sensory issues for her so we're working on that. Calm magnesium has always been something I've tried but as she's gotten older I can't always get her to take things. So we're just working on probiotics, Rescue Remedy Bach Flower lozenges, and now we just added the Bluebonnet thanks to Yvette For the past week and a half she's struggled not to go since adding the probiotics again but she still hasn't gone and it's approaching the two week mark so I know it will happen but I gave her two TB's tonight of the magnesium to see if I could get things helped along. Thank you Yvette for giving me another form of magnesium to try Zurro > > Bluebonnet Liquid Blueberry Cal Mag. My dd takes it from a syringe followed by a sip of Rice Dream Rice Drink. Guest guest
Jeanie, we have tried everything in the last couple of years and it is hugely affected by her sensitivity to everything. She knows she needs to go regularly and we talk about how everyone else including animals, poop every day but she says she doesn't need to go. After she's pooped, she has the feeling the very next day and the next and the next but no matter what she has she avoids it. The longest she ever went was three weeks - one of the times that I posted in distress here. Otherwise it's between 10 days to 14 days, no matter what I do. She gets the hiccups when she needs to go and this past week had them three times in one day but does everything she can do to avoid going, including not wanting to drink because it will make her pee which will make her poop. If we go to a doctor I am more concerned about additional traumitization. We have read the book " It Hurts When I Poop " as well as several others, to no avail. She gets it, just says it isn't the same for her...that she poops when she wants to. The only thing that normally works is keeping her taking epsom salt baths and she will dance around in the tub until she starts to bend over with cramps and calls out " poopoo " . But now she even wants to avoid baths or just wash her feet off with her pants on...so you tell me what a doctor is going to change other than give her Miralax... Guest guest
She is five and has NEVER had Miralax although I'd be rich for all the people who told me I should put her on it because their pediatrician recommended it for their kids...and all their kids were still on it years later... regarding hiccups - I've just noticed that when she is holding and needs to poop the hiccups start and stop a short time later. But it's a tell for me that that needs to go. Incidentally she just pooped. We'll be doing the Bluebonnet and probiotics daily now so hopefully she won't be able to make it as many days. Guest guest
You'll all have to forgive me because this all started more than three years ago. I found this forum about a year ago and might have been able to change a lot of things if we had found it earlier. I'll answer all the questions here and also give a bit more background on my daughter. We don't believe in reward systems, although I will say we have tried them a couple of times just to see if it would make a difference, and it did not. We have tried making a big deal about it when she goes to which she says I feel better and I'm going to go tomorrow and the day after and after etc, and when the next day comes and I start talking about sitting on the potty it's a big fat no. My daughter has a very strong personality and we work very hard on having respectful and trusting relationships in our family (part of the reason I only tried once with a babylax and after that refused to be so invasive). She is also VERY sensitive - very empathetic and would be considered a highly sensitive child. She is sensitve to itchy things, smells, light, etc so you can just imagine how much more traumatic having painful poops has been for her. The potty dance I spoke of is more that when she is in the bathtub she tries to back up to things, pull my pants to her butt, hold her butt cheeks together, everything she can do to hold the poop in - did I forget to mention that she does know when she needs to go but has superhuman strength to hold it in... I do have a stool but am going to get a potty seat that is the one inside the other so she also has more support. --- " , does she observe strict potty time. For example, with my DD, I used to put her on the potty with books, usually about 1/2 - 1 hour after a meal, and put the timer on for 20 minutes, whether she says she has to go or not. More often than not, she goes. I used to bribe, cajole and promise her her favorite things. Now, she goes on her own. She's 41/2. " I would have to physically hold her down to do that. She has always refused to sit on the potty and will go and pee when she's ready and will not sit for a poop. We have done mangos, papayas, blueberries, strawberries, watermelon. Jeannie - what is the digestzyme V works well, 4x day? Haven't seen that one yet. We eat well most of the time - very little processed foods, organic fruits/veggies, grass fed meats, raw milk/raw yogurt when we have it, but she doesn't drink much milk anymore anyway. We avoid hydrogenated oils and any processed foods we buy come from our health food store. Hope this helps to shed more light. thanks for all the help Zurro > > > > Bluebonnet Liquid Blueberry Cal Mag. My dd takes it from a syringe followed by a sip of Rice Dream Rice Drink. Guest guest
Thanks Jeannie, forgive if I was gruff I have been sick and DH away and my dog is dying so I was a bit overwhelmed last night. I realize if I was posting more it would be easier to respond but sometimes I feel like we live in a poop world and it gets tiring. I think I posted a long time ago that we don't vacc. She was only given hep b bcz we were in Argentina when she was born and it was mandatory. I had her by csection but she immediately started nursing and only stopped this past Christmas when she turned 5. Never a drop of formula. We also homeschool so thank goodness no shame associated with being in school and having potty issues. She didn't get any real solids until almost a year and still nursed on demand well after. What I believe started it was a period when we were buying the little milk boxes and she was drinking 3 to 4 per day around 18 months which is when she had started using the potty. She was in cloth diapers and she was naked a lot. I realized her poops were large for a child...adult sized but was clueless about why. Anyway it started there and we probably added to the trauma in our various ways of coercing her to go So here we are more than 3 years later and still working on it but ever more aware and so happy we have never given in to miralax although we did do a couple of other things occasionally until I realized what was inside. One other thing and this is sort of indirectly related. We have worked hard on not coercing because I think that is also related. There is a book I am reading right now that some moms might find interesting. It is called Parenting For Social Justice by Graham Brett and amazon carries it. I am using it to help heal our relationship with our daughter that has been very strained by our trying to control her pooping. zurro > > > > > > Bluebonnet Liquid Blueberry Cal Mag. Guest guest
so since she pooped last night I have given DD roughly 3TB of the Bluebonnet magesium and she got her probiotics today as well. I did not notice much discomfort today but I'm thinking maybe tomorrow it will start to show with all the magnesium. Any other suggestions now that she's had a recent BM? I would love to get her all cleaned out completely and try to keep moving from here. thanks Zurro > > > > > > > > Bluebonnet Liquid Blueberry Cal Mag.
