Guest guest
Report: City Hall mold not too serious Madison Courier - Madison,IN* Peggy Vlerebome Courier Staff Writer http://www.madisoncourier.com/main.aspSectionID=4 & SubSectionID=253 & Ar ticleID=41633 & TM=54217.36 The heating and air conditioning systems and filters at City Hall and the police department will be inspected and cleaned to help combat mold, city engineer Randy Eggenspiller said this morning. The city has received the county health department's report from mold tests, and the mold is not too serious, Eggenspiller said. He said all of the reports aren't back yet, but it appears that City Hall and the police department suffer from the same kind of moisture problems as most old buildings with rock foundations and mortar. Air conditioning and heating systems that are not operating efficiently cannot remove enough mold-causing moisture, so that is where the work will start, he said. The city has asked Steinhardt Heating and Air Conditioning to inspect the systems and give a report of what needs to be done, Eggenspiller said. The roof will need to be replaced, but that is several months away, he said. Four new leaks from the roof during recent rains dampened walls and carpeting on the street-level floor of City Hall, which has two stories above it. Leaks during previous rains had run down to police offices in the basement of the police department building adjacent to City Hall.
