Please read about how they are investigatin metabolic acidosis as a result of this medication. It causes too much acid in the blood which results in acid urine.

Crystals of calcium oxalate are found mainly in an acidic urine, but these can also be seen in slightly alkaline specimens.

http://www.agora.crosemont.qc.ca/urinesediments/doceng/doc_025.html

The Drug Safety Oversight Board discussed reports of metabolic acidosis, metabolic acidosis with increased anion gap, and neuropsychiatric adverse events in children using polyethylene glycol (PEG) products. Metabolic acidosis is a disturbance in the body's acid-base balance and causes too much acid in the blood. In some situations, metabolic acidosis can be a mild, chronic condition; however, it may lead to shock or death in severe cases. Neuropsychiatric adverse events may include seizures, tremors, tics, headache, anxiety, lethargy, sedation, aggression, rages, obsessive-compulsive behaviors including repetitive chewing and sucking, paranoia and mood swings.http://www.fda.gov/AboutFDA/CentersOffices/CDER/ucm171059.htm

Jeanine

Is this a pee in the cup test, a poop test, or a blood test?

Make sure you give them these..............(2 attachments) have them look under the microscope for Calcium Oxalate Crystals, it's that easy to find. It wasn't the GI docs who found them, it was my OBGYN, the man who delivered my children. GI doc's lack a lot of training in my opinion.......................Does your child complain of their pee pee stinging or burning? For those that do, please read attached. My doc found the calcium oxalate crystals and said it was a result of the PEG and that taking this medication is no different than what happened to the animals that ate the tainted pet food a few years ago that contained melamine, another plastic. They were dying of renal failure b/c of the melamine contaminated pet food. Papers attached confirm after many years of research........................they are also documented on the FDA adverse reactions to Carbowax (Polyethylene Gylcol)

Greetings Everyone

I have ben away for nearly a week since my daughter's colon went mega in two places. Instead of listening to her doctors and having her colon removed I got new doctors for her and did more research and found it was Miralax may have been not only the cause of my daughter's paralisis in the colon but was also the probable cause of her elecltolye imbalances that causes major seizures and more colon villa parastalisis.

To make a long short her new GI doctor not only cancelled all of her GI testing and surgeries and switched her to a prescription of LACTULOSE. I researched it on the web as well as her new GI team who conformed that LACTULOSE is a combination of Frutose, (fruite sugar) and Lactose, ,(milk sugar) but since LACTULOSE is only SUGAR and has no proteins in it OF ANY KIND that are no allergy concerns. So my daughter with milk allergins TO PROTEINS can tak it just fine.

Another exciting thought about LACTULOSE is that just after three days of use my daughter has pooped on her one for the first time in her life!

Additionally, since the body, any humna body, does not like sugar the new prescription strength of fruit and milk sugar make the body have a laxative effect.

Think of what a laxative's job is in the body....The laxatives job is to pull water from the body and dump it into the colon, then the colon dumps the extra water in the toilet. The electrolyes in the water are still there when it is being dumped into the toilet therefore my daughter being on adult doese of Miralax became hypoatremic cause her to seize on a regular basis.

Any of you have serious issues with electrolyte imbalance....sodium dropping to 120 etc...

Or having body cramping, bloating, autistic like behaivors, poor focusing ability....etc. Ask you child's pediatrican to switch the laxative to Lactulose. Lactulose is only sugar and since it is only sugar the body create a laxative effect when it has too much.

Another point of interst. My daughter's doctor started her at one teaspoon (5ml) in the morning the first day, then 48 hours later increase it to 2 teaspoons ( 5ml morning 5ml afternoon) then 48 hours later 3 teaspoons (5ml Am, 5ml, pm, 5ml beofre bed) This makes a good marker study to see when the bod has had enough. He said to keep increasing the LACTULOSE until she has diahrea and then cut back uintil she can poo on her own twice a day.

Brilliant!!!

I wanted to post to all of you since you have have reactions to Miralax or you would probabaly not be on this site.

I was able to save my daughter's colon by asking a LOT of questions and going within and asking spirit for guindance... Gratitude is a very powerful state of consciousness.

Love and Sunshine

My 3 year old has been taking miralax for over a year.. Recently a friend of a friend said that her son became cranky when taking miralax and she took him off it immediately. I am wondering if that is true?? is my daughter cranky and irritated due to miralax? I have been pondering that question for about 1 month now. She has chronic constipation paired with being born with an odd shaped rectum that makes it difficult for her to have a bowel movement. HELP PLEASE!!!if that is the case, then I will certainly take her off the miralax. What can I do instead of??
