Guest guest
I was looking at a few recent books yesterday on the current situation with science and Washington and the consensus seemed to be that science has become so politicized at ALL Federal agencies that many of the professionals who are still hanging on in these agencies and who have not taken early retirement feel that it is better to say nothing than to allow their agencies good name to be used to 'legitimize' political aims and political spin which is not science. Evidently early on in the administration many reports and much good work has been produced by people in these agencies but it had been killed. Especially on anything having to do with global warming. EPA in particular was mentioned as having had a lot of resignations, etc. People got the message and now they are just keeping their mouths shut or have left. People are just trying to avoid the limelight and survive the next few months.

Thursday, the CDC said fumes from 519 tested trailers and mobile homes in Louisiana and Mississippi were on average about five times what people are exposed to in most modern homes. Formaldehyde, a preservative commonly used in construction materials, can lead to breathing problems and is also believed to cause cancer. CDC says the meetings will include a presentation by a CDC scientist and opportunities for residents with health concerns to speak one-on- one with government scientists and health professionals. The meetings are set for Feb. 25 in Baker; Feb. 26 in New Orleans; Feb. 27 in Chalmette and Jefferson; and Feb. 28 in Lake . Two meetings are planned for New Orleans and Lake . --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make your homepage.
