<< I

just never could get to enjoy a cold hamburger with cold fries and a warm

coke. YUCK!! Why is it cold? Because the officer who was kind enough to pick

it up, stopped a drunk driver on the way to the station. >>

Mr. Vern and others have talked about something that has been my pet peeve

for a long time......... food. Why is it dispatchers feel they must have

hot food at work? I worked for many years (and still do on occasion) worked

solo and knew I wouldn't be able to go out to get dinner and to this day I

generally pack a sack lunch. For years we didn't have easy access to a

fridge, a microwave, a coffee pot! Thermos brand products have hot and cold

containers out there..... they keep your beverages hot, or cold depending on

what you want. You don't need to chill or heat a lot of food. From our

earlier string of years on the job, I know I'm not the only one who carried a

sack lunch to school (and my folks couldn't afford to purchase the hot meal

ticket everyday). There were no refrigerators to put these into. That's why

lunch boxes come with a thermos. I worked with a gal who demanded " fresh "

food for her meal breaks.... and she defined " fresh " as " fast food " .

Everyday she had an officer go get her meal. Admin never complained and

neither did the officers but I felt it was an abuse of her position.

Anyone ever hear of eating a hot meal at home before going to work then

taking a snack with you?

That's my opinion on this subject.....

Kathy
