Guest guest
Hello to you all, I'm new to the group and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Donna and I live in Indiana. My mother has been diagnosed with LBD by the psychologist at the NH where she currently resides. She has several doctors and they aren't all so willing to give the same diagnosis, but I feel confident that LBD is it. The story is long so won't get into all of that. Currently I've had to file for guardianship because of her trust issues. I'm the only child and she wants anyone but me to be her guardian. She knows how to manipulate 'anyone' else. She has caused chaos for residents, the nursing staff, doctors and much division in family. I know that knowledge is power and I'm thrilled with the amount of information that is available on this list. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for all that you have done here. I know that there is a lot of work and time spent gathering all of these resources. I look forward to getting you know you all. Guest guest
We have experienced that also. My 12 year old has been on and off Miralax for about 7 or 8 years. I'm trying to understand this whole phenomenon as well. My son lost his ability to push his stool as well by age 1 1/2 despite a healthy diet of fruit and veggies. After mineral oil treatment and diet trials of sneaking in more fiber foods and eliminateing possible allergy foods, without success, we turned to Miralax around age 4. Complicated with the fact that his fruit and veggie rich diet has diminished every year since age 3. Now at 12 1/2 he won't eat more than one fruit/veggie per day. Before his diminished fiber diet I never kept him on Miralax more than 3 months at a time because it was tricky and also he seemed to have a decent diet to support healthy movement. Although now he has removed about 85% of his fiber foods from his diet. Maybe typical for a 12 year old? We have recently been using Miralax for the last 10 months every other day at the least. He has had less constipation and dry messy stool but he hasn't seemed to develop any muscles that the GI specialist and pediatrician keep saying are going to kick in after a good 6 months of regular use. The Enconprisis has been a little less but not gone. He's either leaking or leaves a heavy stool in the bowl that needs to be pushed down with the toilet brush. How can the muscles develop when there is no substance to push against? We have tried to tritrate doses to decrease but now the full dose gets the same result at 1/4 dose. And did I mention that his ADHD has gotten so bad during this last year that we've had to medicate him so he can get through the day at school without getting sent to the principal for his impulsive behavior? I've been giving my 9 year old Miralax as well for a few years as needed occasionally. He's been diagnosed with anxiety this week. I have many questions also.
