Dottie Heffron with the Illinois Lime Disease Network says Governor Pat Quinn has made two significant changes to the proclamation. The proclamation now states that there is no reliable testing for Lyme disease, leaving it to be missed diagnosed as another disease. "Lyme disease is a clinical diagnosis, and they should be treating on clinical symptoms. So when the patient goes to see the doctor, and presents 'I have this, this, and this', then they should refer to that, and go ahead and treat them for Lyme disease with an antibiotic, or if they are going to do it holistically, however the patient wants to be treated, depending on their symptoms", said Heffron.
