Guest guest Posted February 11, 2008 Report Share Posted February 11, 2008 A Fast Forward on 'Cure' for Dementia (Source: The Journal) - A helmet that projects infra-red light into the eyes of the wearer is believed to provide significant benefits for dementia patients. Research at the University of Sunderland in the UK has shown that regular exposure to safe low-level infra-red light may be able to turn back the brain's biological clock and reverse memory loss. Though not yet tested on humans, it is being called a " potential cure for dementia. " Human trials are scheduled to start in the summer to see if the treatment could provide a cure to illnesses like Alzheimer's. The study has so far shown the treatment can improve learning performance and kick-start cognitive function of the brain.
