Guest guest
Hello all, I'm new in this group and thought I would start by sharing what I suspect is a familiar story. My son, who is now 11 has had chronic constipation since he was, well really a baby. When he was a toddler we talked with our pediatrician and we referred to a GI specialist and he was put on Miralax. It seemed to work for a while, but I started noticing him getting headaches on a frequent basis and bloating. Not all the time, but enough to make me think something was not right. Miralax seems to treat the symptoms, but not the underlying problem. As soon as I take him off of Miralax, no more headaches or bloating, but back comes the constipation. So, I'm here to search for alternatives that have worked for others. I realize every kid is different, but there has got to be a better answer than this and it's side effects. Thanks in advance, Steve
Guest guest
We use Natural Calm before bed for my daughter. She is 10 and was on Miralax for awhile. She takes 1 heaping teaspoon dissolved in hot water to activate it and then I add some juice to it. She also takes probiotics and eats alot of fruit which helps as well. Good Luck! Guest guest
Loretta, Do you mind taking a minute to add this to the new Parent Protocols database? People are starting to put their regimens there and it's going to be a wonderful database of what is working for everyone when we start filling it... http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/miralax/database?method=reportRows & tbl=2 Thank you! Guest guest
Natural Calm has been a life saver for us.. along with the plum smart as well... Thanks for the response. I'm not familiar with Natural Calm, but will look into it. We have started a probiotic, and that does seem to help with some Plum Smart juice. Thanks again! > > > > Subject: Finally! > To: miralax > Date: Wednesday, April 11, 2012, 10:11 PM > > > > Â > > > > Hello all, > > I'm new in this group and thought I would start by sharing what I suspect is a familiar story.
