Guest guest
In my NOT so humble opinion, this product and others like it (i.e., Benecol) should be avoided at ALL costs! These products are touted as " the first of a new generation of designer foods that act in many ways like drugs. " The new margarine, Take Control, manufactured by Lipton, is just the first of a wave of such products coming to market. The new designer foods claim to break ground by containing plant extracts that act more like drugs than nutrients. Take Control contains phytosterols, compounds made from soybeans that are the plant equivalent of cholesterol. In the intestine, these substances compete to be absorbed and thus edge out other cholesterol. Tablespoon for tablespoon, Take Control has about half the calories of its cousin Promise margarine, also made by Lipton. But where Promise cuts blood levels of cholesterol by about 3 percent, studies show that Take Control produces about a 10 percent drop. Tubs of Take Control were scheduled to hit supermarkets yesterday in Chicago. Take Control will retail for $3.79 to $3.99 -- about three times more than the standard margarine. Folks, DO NOT BE DECEIVED, this is DANGEROUS stuff. It will NOT help you in any way shape or form. Never forget, margarine is margarine which is liquid plastic. Your brain is 50% fat. Do you want liquid plastic incorporated into your brain? Most medical scientist are relatively clueless when they think that lowering total cholesterol is the solution for heart disease. Your cholesterol level should be about 200, but your HDL/cholesterol and triglyceride/HDL ratio are far more important risk predictors of heart disease. If one lowers their cholesterol to low than the ability to produce essential hormones is severely compromised. Don’t you find it curious that this new non-solution to heart disease is three times more expensive than margarine? Do yourself a favor and purchase organic butter rather than this toxic **non-food**! In order to extend the shelf life of their products, manufacturers use chemical processes that render their food products harmful to the body. These harmful fats go by a number of names, including " hydrogenated, " " partially hydrogenated " and even " polyunsaturated. " The chemical processing of fats destroys the vital electron cloud within the fat. Once the electrons have been removed, these fats can no longer bind with oxygen, and they actually become a harmful substance deposited within the body. The heart, for instance, rejects these fats and they end up as inorganic fatty deposits on the heart muscle itself. Chemically processed fats are not water-soluble when bound to protein. They end up blocking circulation, damage heart action, inhibit cell renewal and impede the free flow of blood and lymph fluids. The bio-electrical action in these areas slows down and may become completely paralyzed. The entire organism shows a measurable loss of electrical energy which is replenished only by adding active lipids to the diet. These nutritional fats are truly vital for man and beast alike. Science has proven that fats play an important role in the functioning of the entire body. Fats (lipids) are vital for all growth processing, renewal of cells, brain and nerve functions, even for the sensory organs (eyes and ears), and for the body's adjustment to heat, cold and quick temperature changes. Our energy resources are based on lipid metabolism. To function efficiently, cells require true polyunsaturated, live, electron-rich lipids, present in abundance, for example, in raw flaxseed oil. True polyunsaturated fats greedily absorb proteins and oxygen and pump them through the system. Again, don't spend your money on this product thinking that you will be doing something that is healthy and beneficial for your body. It's NOT. Cholesterol most certainly CAN be lowered nutritionally but this is NOT the way to do it.
