Guest guest
Go to the TCI your Doctor does not know about Chiari and RELATED SICKNESSES which are hmong others SM and TCS. Probably you may have Tethered Cord Syndrome (TCS). Please go to the TCI web page and see the video they have about TCS. In order to have a proper diagnose you need a complete MRI from the top of your head to the last bone of your lumbar spine. When you have a complete MRI then you can have a proper diagnose. They say the same thing to me and I loose many years because the same mistake!!! Worst of all: symptoms and damage to th spinal cord increased. Do not loose time GO TO THE TCI. http://www.chiariinstitute.com/ from Mexico. _____ De: [mailto: ] En nombre de jwmimi72 Enviado el: Viernes, 29 de Agosto de 2008 03:10 p.m. Para: Asunto: Lumbar MRI's Hello everyone, I have a question someone may be able to answer. My NL told me today that I did not need a Lumbar Mri since a Syrinx never extends down that far. He ordered brain, cervical and thoracic but not the lumbar Mri's.....3 yrs ago they said I didnt have a Chiari by looking at the cervical Mri.. He now says Brain Mri is needed for that.which I never had.But they did show the syrinx in T 1-11..3 mm.Oh, he says if I do not have a Chiari then I do not need to go to TCI as it is not for SM only Chiari.....Is he crazy or sane???? right or wrong on these issues.... thanks for any input .. Guest guest
As far as asyrinx goes very few are idiopathic meaning there is no cause. There is a reason the syrinx is there. If you have not been injured and your brain mri does not show an arachnoid cyst or anything it is more than likely chiari. It may be a chiari 0. When you fill out the questionairre for TCI if they dont think they can help you they will tell you so. I do not know of anyone that has been told that. TCI treats patients that do not have acm but have related type of illnesses. I would take the first step to try and get an appt and go from there. They are a caring facility and if they think they can not help you they are not going to waste your time or money. I think you will end up being surprised though. IT is worth the money and the wait. There are typically not syringes in the lumbar area because the spinal cord does not extend downt hat low but it is good to rule out any other anomalies. Guest guest
A point of clarification: " idiopathic " means there is no KNOWN cause. It's kind of a garbage can diagnosis that admits there is a problem, but can't admit that there might actually be a cause that no one has taken the time to figure out. When I'm feeling very frustrated, I think of this as being " idiotpathic " . McCoy wrote: As far as asyrinx goes very few are idiopathic meaning there is no cause.
