Session 2305 – 3 CME | ABPM

Occupational Medicine: From Clinic to Courtroom

Tuesday, May 3

8:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Mark is a 36-year-old executive of a paint manufacturing plant who is

referred to you for possible multiple chemical sensitivity. He

reports being

exposed to mold at the office and chemicals at the plant. He now has

symptoms

at

the office, the plant and even with non-workplace activities such as

hobbies

and yard work. This session will discuss the soup to nuts of this

case, ranging

from treatment, to investigation, to return to work decisions, to

serving as

expert witnesses through various administrative and legal

proceedings.

Topics will include: the role of the OEM physician; latest provable

science

associated with multiple chemical sensitivity; differential

diagnosis versus

causation assessment; and standards of " proof " in the workplace and

the

courtroom,

and how the occupational health professional confronts and deals

with these

differing standards.

Join your colleagues for the College's 90th Annual Membership

Meeting and

Luncheon to honor this year's Presidential, Resident Research, and

Grants for

Innovation in OEH award recipients, as well as the members of the

Class of

2005 who will be elevated to Fellow status. The meeting will

conclude with Dr.

Key's presidential address, followed by the passing of the gavel to

Dr. Cheryl

Barbanel, who will then present her inaugural address as ACOEM's

incoming

President.

Open to all conference registrants. Admittance by ticket only;

pre-registration is required by Monday, May 2, at 12 Noon. CME will

not be

offered for

this event
