Guest guest
Hi Jeannie, This is a very difficult problem for me, I have cried more in the past year than in many years. I will try to tell you my story very quickly. I have always been sickly but for years my problem was loose bowels. In 2000 after beginning a severe breathing problem post flu they finally found a large benign tumour growing off my heart. That was removed but even before the surgery the doctor said some people have pain forever from having their ribs cracked. I am one of the lucky and have it and was put on MS Contin and occasionally Prednisone to get rid of the terrible pain. In 2009 I lost my left kidney to cancer. I also had a bad fall and ruptured 3 discs in my back and fractured one. The MS Contin levels increased as did the constipation. In January of last year I developed severe nausea and trouble keeping food down. All they found was about 50 polyps in my stomach and upper bowel but oh no, that is not the cause of any of my problems. Finally a doctor said my problem is from breathing and constipation in June. I was immediately put on Miralax. I got sick on it and was told to go to half strength, I was already on half so I went to a quarter. Then was told to slowly build it up. I did that and spent the next month in bed in pain and sick. I stopped the drug on September 1 I believe around that time and threw out any I had in the house. I was a mental and physical mess. My doctor told me I caused bowel paralysis from stopping cold turkey. They then put me on a drug called Targin which I was also very sick on. Now the only thing that produces a bowel movement is Milk of Magnesia, last week even Mag Citrate did nothing. My doctor now is anti Miralax but it is too late for me. I gave him info from this website and he has decided not to use it. He now believes I have gastroparesis and is looking at prescribing a new drug on Wednesday that may make things happen. The biggest thing for me in this all is I have felt so alone. Doctors here scratch their heads and say there is nothing wrong with me. Yet through this site and other on line areas I know of many people and some that have been suicidal which is why I cry for the children. OK Jeannie, sorry, I had to vent. I have been tested for celiac, it was negative. I have mentioned Lyme disease – it is so rare here my doctor has to research what to do. Take care and thanks for listening. Ileus is a paralytic condition that can be caused by chemcials in which my doc pointed out to me. If this is indeed what peg is doing, these poor children couldn't go if they wanted to? Needing more peg to deficate...........how scary is that? How long did you take it? How long have you been off? When did it start? http://www.primehealthchannel.com/paralytic-ileus-definition-causes-symptoms-and-treatment.html Jeanie
