Medical Whistleblowers will Storm Capitol Hill on May 9, 2006

Coalitions join forces to defeat Bad Faith in Medicine

Washington DC- A growing bipartisan coalition of doctors,

whistleblowers, and citizens announce formation of the Council of

Health Integrity projects (C-HIP) to uphold traditional values in

medicine against the bad faith tactics evident in large hospital

corporations.

Noted defense attorney Alan M. Dershowitz argued in a brief to the

Supreme Court that a shocking lack of due process is too evident in

hospital corporations.

Dershowitz formed a bipartisan " dream team " of doctors, lawyers,

citizens and whistleblower groups like Tom Devine's Government

Accountability Project, the American Trial Lawyers Association,

Semmelweis Society International and the American Association of

Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Roland Chalifoux chairs C-HIP. " Too often, colleagues are run

out by reviews solely comprised of competitors. Patients and doctors

suffer when corrupt, anti-competitive, anti-patient, anti-ethics

tribunals are used by unaccountable hospital corporations. "

Semmelweis president Dr. Bill Hinnant emphasizes, " The patient is

forgotten in today's Big Medicine system. We must remind legislators

that Marcus Welby doctors are the backbone of American health. We

cannot afford to gag consciences of doctors. "

Ron Marshall, a citizen member agrees. " Corrupt hospital peer

reviewers work hand and in-glove with corrupt public officials, and

patients suffer. "

Dr. Verner Waite, founder of Semmelweis, added: " I have personally

worked with 1000 doctors subjected to bad faith peer review. More

than 80% of peer reviews are in bad faith. "

The forum will honor " Heroes in Healthcare " , who have fought for the

public interest and against bad faith. One hero is the legendary Dr.

Larry Poliner, who won a $366 million dollar federal jury verdict in

Dallas vindicating him of a bad faith peer review.

Other " Heroes in Healthcare " include Alderson who exposed more

than $2 Billion dollars in medical fraud. Dr. Peeno and Dr.

Wigand will be honored alongside reporters Twedt and

Kurt Eichenwald.

Dr. Fudin, founder of the VA whistleblower coalition (VAWBC)

and Sibel Edmonds of the National Security Whistleblower Coalition

(NSWBC) have inspired the formation of the Medical Safety

Whistleblower Coalition (MSWBC).

" Whistleblower coalitions are the true heroes and patriots of our

times " , Dr. Waite stated bluntly; " Big Medicine is encroaching too

much, and falsified peer review is its ultimate weapon. If doctors

were completely muzzled, patients would be defenseless. "

" This is the tipping point " , said Chalifoux. " 2006 events show

clear and present danger. Dershowitz, Poliner, Alderson, Peeno and

others show the momentum is now with us. "

Chalifoux concluded: " Even Salem gave witches more due process. We

must put patients before profit. The hospital error rate causes

hundreds of thousands of needless deaths. We are blowing the whistle

on a corrupt system that endangers patients and national security. "
