Dear ,

Your wife is lucky to have such a concerned spouse.

I am a married 42-year old wife who has ACMI, was decompressed in '97,

and had 2 MVD brain surgeries in 96 & 97 for Trigeminal Neuralgia.

I was single when I went through it all 13 years ago, and now after an

11 year remission, it's back, and now I'm going through it married.

Though out my experiences I have utilized Home Health Aides, Social

Workers, and In Home Nurses. Depending on your insurance, your wife may

qualify for (It sure sounds like she would) a Home Health Aid, a

Personal Care Assistant, a Social Worker, or even a Nurse to visit her

in your home.

I'm guessing that your wife is home bound, not driving? That she can go

out, but mostly with you? If she is home bound primarily other than

doctor visits, and testing, etc... and she is having to use a " home

therapy device, you should check with your insurance and see if she

qualifies for a Home Health Aid or Personal Care Assistant. All you

would need is a prescription from your doctor saying he is recommending

this home treatment, and that she could use some assistance. Especially

since her falling down factor is high because of the dizziness and

fatigue. A Home Health Aide or PCA could come 2-3 times a week, to help

her with the traction, especially since you are away at work. Home

aides can also help with laundry, grocery shopping, light cleaning,

anything that's in her immediate environment, where she sleeps, where

she eats, where she does the therapy.

She may even qualify for a Nurse to come once a week or month just to

take her vitals, and check in how she is responding to the traction? She

could also get a Social Worker, who can help with things like Medical

Insurance Issues, Paper work, emotional support or connect her with even

more resources in the community.

I have found, that when my husband is gone at work all day, and I am

home alone, it sure was nice when I had the Home Health Aide come 2

times a Week, and a Nurse come once a month. The social worker was

ESPECIALLY helpful to me the year I had 3 brain surgeries, I had so much

double vision, fatigue and balance issues, that it was difficult for me

to deal with all the Medical Bills, Phone Calls, etc. It was hard to

read, and painful to talk.

I hope that this will be of some inspiration or help. Peace to you and

your family.

Sincerely,

Connie from Minnesota
