Guest guest
Hi Joy, Thanks a lot for the wealth of information you sent me last time and for the most recent article on candida. And I'm glad you're feeling better lately. Wow, does candida really last about 154 days? Is that about how long it lasted for you? I do worry about candida at times especially since I'm on MWF abx and 4 puffs of inhaled steroids twice a day everyday! How many puffs of steroids do you take everyday? By the way, why can't you take SB FlorActiv with abx? It was actually always my impression that you should take SB with abx since the abx are killing off the good bacteria. In fact, I've just recently began taking SB twice a day while I'm on abx on MWF. The doctor says that as long as I don't have symptoms, the aspergillus is probably just a colonization (which I suppose is normal to some degree). Of course, it is quite weird that this is the 3rd time it showed up in my culture (although it was scant these last couple times). Here's the link that says SB may cause disease in immunocompromised individuals:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saccharomyces_boulardii Some cases of fungemia have been reported in patients with a central venous catheter. Administration of an antimycotic (antifungal) leads to patient recovery from this systemic infection. Patients with yeast allergies are not encouraged to take S. boulardii. S. boulardii has been known to cause disease in immunocompromised humans. In particular, highly concentrated form, marketed as probiotic supplements for the treatment of Clostridium difficile colitis, can possibly cause fungemia in critically ill patients.[22] Hope this helps, Cassie
