Guest guest
Hi all..... Hope that this weekend is treating everyone well. Between jumping through hoops to get ready for the upcoming fall semester, coming back from a magnificient two-day disability conference (where I find myself on another board of directors), getting ready for elections for the first board of directors as well as planning the 2013 autism conference, and finally deciding to write a book, I have been busy as you can imagine. By the way, I met Plank, fellow Aspie and the founder of WrongPlanet.net - the largest social network for autistics (as well as for parents of autistics and the professionals who treat autistics). He was one of the keynotes at the conference. Very funny guy, and very successful entrepreneur at only the age of 25. Left a really good impression on me. This conference was unlike any of the others I attended previously. I wrote this morning, " I had this crazy idea to write a book back in 2009, then telling myself no one would ever read it. Perhaps the Law of Attraction, God (or whatever or whoever), or something or someone else reminds us about the importance of focusing on the positive and writing affirmations about what we want to happen as if it is already happening. " At the conference, and shared how much of a difference I can make in the lives of others by writing a book. A book about my experiences with Aspergers/High Functioning Autism - from growing up to now. A book about my experiences growing up as part of the " lost generation " of autistic adults, who never had access to the tools that doctors and specialists have to diagnose autism. , especially, encouraged me to think more about the current generation of children who will become adults, eventually. Children who may or may not yet diagnosed with autism. " Some things are best left unexplained. The curious mind of someone with Aspergers is amazing. We want to know " Why? " " Why? " " Why?, " until it becomes like a one-word mantra in our lives. So much so that asking " Why? " is like taking a flyswatter and hitting ourselves in the head with it instead of a fly (my apology to all the peace-loving folks who are one with everything about them). " Perhaps it is time to write the book after all. If my best friend, April, and and at the conference have suggested I write a book, who am I to think otherwise? To not write the book does not give me an opportunity to share with others about my experiences. Not doing so prevents people from being able to relate to me - even with my sense of humor (egads!). Above all, not writing that book is one less contribution to further the cause of autism - and eventually - humanity. " So there you have it about the concept of my book, which I thought of back in 2009.
