Hi Everyone: I had read awhile back about using borax to kill mold

spores in clothing. Dr. Mercola's web sight the other day said that

borax can be very toxic. Does anyone here have any information about

using it to kill mold spores on clothing and is it safe for people with

MCS? Thanks- Diane

Another excellent solution to use in the wash is Hydrogen Peroxide. A friend

of mine that is a nurse told me to add a cup to the laundry to disinfect. I

buy mine at Target or WalMart for under a dollar, they also have the wipes

that are very inexpensive. I keep a big bottle in the kitchen and bathrooms and

pour about 1/2 cup down the drain every week or more. Drains are nice and

clean plus our plumber said is was safe to use. No odor to HP at all and it's

cheap to use. About 85 cents a bottle.

I was just told by someone to use your regular laundry detergent but

also use a cup of regular household Amonia. I can't really say if thats

the ticket or not......

I remember my grandmother used Borax all the time! I've seen it at Target

but never tired it.

A book I have says for a cleaning solution to mix 1/2 cup of white vinager,

1/2 cup of Borax and 2 cups of water on dirty areas and let it sit for a few

min. or over night on badly stained areas. As far as laundry I just use

detergent mixed with plain white vinager and that has seemed to do just fine.

There is no mention of using Borax with laundry but many recipes with a mixture

for many other uses. Hope that helps. If you need I can give you these other

mixtures.

I also have some information on the use of peroxide and the different grades and

thier uses. I have not looked at it for awhile though. But yes I have heard of

the use of it as well.

Diane-I have MCS and have used borax-it does not make me react at all

It has no odor and the powder itself does not bother me. I have used

it to kill the fleas in my house (the dog had them-what a nightmare!).

I sprinkled the borax over the couches and the floor and left it on

for a half hour-it is supposed to suffocate the fleas. I think it

worked-no flea problem!

I also use borax powder to clean my sink, but I've never used it in my

laundry. All I can say is that if it killed fleas it might work on mold!

Good luck, Surella

I mop my floors with a cup of peroxide and a half of cup of

wintergreen alchol to a sink of hot water.

Hi all,

We add Borax to our laundry. I do not react to it. In fact, my husband was

amazed that I could tell when we ran out. The laundry had a residual moldy smell

on towels. We buy it at Target or Walmart. NFI- YMMV
