Guest guest
Yes such food does exist !! It is served in some (or all?) national fast food chains !! I had been hearing that burgers or fries served in these FF chains doesn't go bad. One day I decided to do my own experiment. Six months ago I bought a plain hamburger (btw I don't eat them, next time I will try with chicken patty). This sandwich had two slices of bread and 100% pure beef patty, nothing else. It was given to me in the customary paper bag, I did not open it. I just put it away, hid it in my office ! This was at room temperature. Some people might rightfully think that this is gross. I told myself that if I started smelling something rotting I will discontinue this experiment and discard this sandwich. Days, weeks and months passed. No smell. I controlled my curiosity umpteen times to take a peek. Today after six months I had to discontinue the experiment as we are doing some spring cleaning and I had to take it out from its hiding place. My assistant was with me. She got sick to her stomach ! Not because it was stinking, but because it was not !! We opened the wrap. The two slices of bread looked unchanged. The patty had shrunk a little. There was absolutely no stench. In fact my assistant dared to smell it and it did not have much of a smell. What did change was the consistency. All three pieces turned into rocks. I was thinking the bread might go stale but it looked more hardy than the patty. I don't know if I am oblivious to some scientific details, hence I am not going to derive any conclusions yet. The sandwich was not in an air tight container and was not refrigerated and not frozen. It was kept at room temperature. It was left in its original wrap. Today I transferred it into this transparent container as I don't want to reveal the identity of the fast food restaurant. It shouldn't matter. They all are probably the same. I look forward to some scientific discussion. Ashok Subject: To: abhaskarmd@...
