Guest guest
Board of Equalization employees sue over mold inside building Sacramento Bee - CA* By Lynne Vellinga - mvellinga@... Wednesday, February 27, 2008 http://www.sacbee.com/101/story/744133.html Nearly two dozen employees of the state Board of Equalization have filed a lawsuit against the agency and its director for allegedly concealing extensive water intrusion and mold growth inside the agency headquarters at 450 N St. The workers allege that exposure to mold has caused them to suffer from a variety of health problems. " We're seeking significant damages for these individuals for the exposure and the injuries and diseases it has caused, " said lawyer Jr. In October, BOE removed employees from the top three floors of the N Street high-rise, saying black mold had been discovered growing beneath a layer of wallboard. But the employee lawsuits cite other instances in which mold had been discovered earlier. Agency officials repeatedly told employees their workplace was safe, the lawsuit alleges. It alleges that BOE director Ramon J. Hirsig was personally liable for the cover-up.
