Guest guest
Hi Everybody, If I don't make sense, blame it on the Vicodin and an empty stomach. Dr. Milhorat was supposed to call me this week and didn't. I talked with Irene and he asked her to pass of the message. She told me that I can go the pain management route and see if that helps, or I can have a cranioplasty and C1 C2 fusion. I had lots of questions, so I called Dr. Heger, (Dr. Milhorat's resident). I asked if Dr. Milhorat fuses C1 to the cranioplasty, he said no. I then asked what will it do to help with my cranial settling then. He told me the surgery is kind of a precursor to an odontoidectomy. He wants to make sure that I have a solid fusion, then he would remove the odontoid. I asked about the cranioplasty and what good will that do. He told me that there could be scar tissue involved and pressing on the dura causing chiari symptoms and headaches again. I told him that Dr. Milhorat had told me that my skull was to thin to do that back when I had my decompression done in June. He couldn't help me with that question. Dr. M is supposed to call me back next week. I told Irene that I have to talk to him. I see my family doctor on Monday because I want to go to a pain clinic. My neurologist won't give me anything stronger than Vicodin, and that makes me itch my skin off. I have gone round and round with him about this for over one year. I am tired of fighting but I am not giving up. I am turning circles, both chiari circles and doctor circles. I am waiting for the insurance battles to start all over again too. Sorry to complain, but I sure did need to get this off my chest.
