Guest guest
Hey Everyone, how's it going? Good I hope. As many of you know last week was such a great week for me. It ended all too soon last Fri. I was having a great time in the AM picking pears. Then in the afternoon I was down. I started to get one of those pressure headaches. Then I felt intense pressure in my neck. The back of my neck started to swell until I had what I call a really tight " bubble " back there. It kept getting tighter and more painful as the night went on. I'm almost positive it was CSF. I started to get intense burning pain in my back, arms and legs. My arms and hands started to go numb and tingley too. That was all very familiar. It was exactly the same burning pain I used to get in my neck before my first surgery. Where my syrinx was. It was like the CSF was stuck between my tailbone and my skull. I've never experienced anything like this before. I finally found a position that caused the " bubble " to drain. What a relief that was! I was in a sitting up position sleeping but it drained after I lay down in a lower reclining position. If I sat up my neck started to fill up with fluid again. That was confusing to me b/c before all that happened I always had to sit up to sleep at night to keep my head pressure down. If I didn't my headache was really bad during the day. But if I just sit for a while my headache will get better. The neck " swelling " and pain comes and goes when I sit. Has any one else had this happen to them? I haven't felt well at all though since all this happened. Now I have pain that wasn't there after this last surgery. My main concern is what if this " episode " causes my old syrinx to return or another one forms? I'm due to go to NY next week and my concern is how am I going to lay in the MRI? I went to the Dr. today and had to lay in a very low reclining position to get an EKG. I was probably only in that position for about 5 min. My head can't take the pressure and I was so dizzy. I was in the same position for the exam. That was probably only 3 min. When I sat up. I was so dizzy and sick to my stomach. How am I going to deal with an hour or more in an MRI? I'm always worse in the AM. My MRI in NY is in the AM. I don't want to be like I was last Dec. when I had to go for an MRI because of the fluid collection in my neck. That was torture. It got so bad at one point that I was yelling at the MRI tech, " , get me outta here! " LOL. So how do you guys who have pressure issues deal with your head feeling like it's going to explode while you're getting an MRI? I'll have something for the pain. I'm not worried about the pain. It's the pressure and dizziness. I don't want to throw up during the MRI. The lasix is loosing it's effectiveness. As bad as I've felt I know I'd be in a world of trouble if I didn't have it. Even though it's not working like it was when I first started taking it. I saw my PCP today and the decision was made that instead of getting an MRI here I'll just hunker down and muddle through this until I leave for NY next week. Any advise or insight would be appreciated.
