Hi -

Well, this is all very complex and there's a lot to learn if mold is the source

of your issues.

There are over 100,000 molds, and with there being that many, little is known

about most of them. With that many, you can see that it becomes difficult to

test to see if someone has been affected by one... real needle in a haystack

time.

What we DO know is that the purpose fungus seems to have in the world is to

break things down in order to recycle them... sometimes, living things seem to

get attacked in the same ways dead ones do.

There are a handful of ways mold can affect people - a good overview can be

found

http://zed.alaw.org/asthma/ames/pdfs/amesMold_Guide_Health_Professionals_modifie\

d09-30-2004.pdf

See page 33 of the pdf to get the four categories.

If you are lucky enough to have been someplace where you could see the mold and

had it tested in the environment, you can see how that might make it possible to

get tested for issues that might be related to that particular mold. Most

people don't have that good fortune for a variety of reasons, a big one being

the expense of testing.

I'm assuming that since you've been sick for so long, you don't have a *site*

per se that would hold clues to your health.

So, a wrote you earlier about how one quarter of the population has a

genotype that makes us more susceptible to environmental toxins. This is Dr.

Shoemaker's work - he found the gene responsible for whether or not we make the

antibodies that help rid us of biotoxins. I'm gonna guess that most of us on

this list fall into the unlucky quarter. Other people can be in the same

environment and not get affected, but we crumple. She Dr. Shoe's book Mold

Warriors which can be ordered from moldwarriors.com or from Amazon. It's a good

read whether or not mold is your actual issue - I'm sure it would give you food

for thought. And then you'd have some of Dr. Shoe's own work to evaluate him

for yourself.

I'm the first to admit there are charletons everywhere, but the two doctors that

have been put forth to you are people that we on the list have confidence in...

there are a handful of others throughout the country, but in the grand scheme of

things there are nearly none.

So, this stuff is really under-understood, if you're following me, but there's

another HUGE perception problem about mold that we run into... lemme explain.

We know fungal issues have been around for all eternity - there are references

in the Bible and throughout history. But there are LARGE corporate interests in

this country doing an effective job at keeping the science under wraps, and it's

working. They have come up with some junk science that purports to prove mold

can't hurt you, which, of course, flies in the face of the fact that many

bioweapons are developed from mycotoxins. You following me here? My neighbor

actually died from his exposure to a mycotoxin that is believed to be what was

dropped on Laos in the 1970s. I'm not going to comment here on all of that, but

we've had one headache and frustration after another deducing what happened to

him and proving it, but we've done a remarkably good job despite the challenges.

A couple of things happened in the last few decades that changed things in the

US and made mold a bigger problem and figuring it out more frustrating. The

first thing is that in order to conserve energy better, buildings began to get

built more airtight... this meant that if water intrusions happen, they don't

air out as well, giving time for fungus to grow. Fungus LIKE growing indoors

where they have fewer enemies than in the wild. If they get nice and comfy and

don't feel they are fighting for their existence all the time, they can build

fortifications to ward off other fungi - this fortification comes in the form of

mycotoxins.

Some mycotoxins are actually friendly and (debatably) useful - we know them as

antibiotics. Penicillan is made from Penicillium. (Please forgive my spelling,

it was bad before mold exposure - worse since.)

Other mycotoxins will kill you if given the chance, as one did with my neighbor.

Dr. Shoe created a protocol with a drug that helps those of us without the full

set of antibodies help get rid of our toxins. Yea! Dr. Gray uses the Shoemaker

protocol. On this list, you'll find a lot of testimony that Cholestyramine

(CSM) makes a huge difference in people's lives. It was developed as a

cholesterol-lowering drug - it's a sequesterant that binds to toxins and gets

them out of the body.

Now, clearly I don't know what's going on in your body, but it's possible that

this protocol could be useful to you even if there were something other than

mold that's milling around in you. It's worth reading the book to learn about

it.

OK, I'm getting a bit worn out, but the politics of this stuff is best

understood from an article that ran in the Wall Street Journal a year ago

January - KC posted it recently and I'll try to forward it to you..

The insurance industry has had it in for mold issues since 2001 when the first

mega-million dollar case got won - they call it 'the next asbestos.' They have

been doing their damnedest to create so-called science to refute problems coming

from mold, and the American medical community has bought into it sufficiently so

that most doctors think we're nuts when we show up with the bizarre mold

symptoms.

You've asked about the tests - there are several kinds, some are for allergies,

some are for toxins, some are for infections...(see the earlier link for the

variety of problems).

every one of us on this site has had the SAME question, why the heck

can't ask a reg'lar physician to recognize our symptoms and

ailments... am gonna tell you there is no rational explanation.

Honestly, don't waste your time looking for one if you want to stay

sane...

to diagnose and what to do about it so you can begin healing.

Sometimes you can get your doctor at home to take instruction to

someone with experience with what we're working with.

doctors mentioned as I see another did. My sense is that like most

of us here, you've been using what scientific skills we non-

scientists have to deduce what's wrong with us because we have

bizarre symptoms that most doctors glaze over about when we describe

them. And it doesn't make sense that there is so little accepted

information for symptoms that are really, really real.

Thank you. That is a good answer. So, nobody knows but some people

get better by working on the mold thing, right? Still, how do you

know then that mold is your problem?

What is your personal opinion about this Dr.Shoemaker's online test?

I have read so many messages saying it's scam that it's hard to

believe. In general when it's one isolated doctor against the whole

world with a miracle treatment of his invention, then usually 2+2=4

and it's scam.

I thought that this forum was about something merely scientific as

mold and its normal treatments but at the end in these forums

every disease group rounds around alternative therapies, miracle

products, disbelieved genius doctors and all the classic stuff.

cbn, for one thing, you need to slow your ass down, and your starting

to make me have doughts about your purpose here and weither your

really sick or not. now I have to say that some red flags are poping

up, dont make me regret waisting my energy here. for one thing most

people just know because of what they went through and connecting the

dots. that may take time for some but mostly they allready have a

pretty sure felling or they wouldn't come looking for this group.

I just read your reply to sharon and no, people sick from this kist

dont respond like that. either way, you need to mellow out.

I don't care who you are. if your sick and need answers mellow out.

if your not sick any need answers maybe you need to just hang in the

background and learn for awhile cause people here dont need you

stressing them out and we dont have to prove shit to shit to you and

if your just gonna argue about it than move on.
