Guest guest
One question: Was this a primary care physician or an environmental doc? Interested to know. If this is a primary care physician, than I want to say, hats off to this doc for giving you the petri dishes, as there are some PCP's out there that do recognize the fact that mold does make one ill. My Doc gave me some 1hr gravity pi tree dishes to test the air in my home as one method to test to see if my home was " safe " or toxic mold free. There was a set of 4 p-dishes, supposed to put one in each bedroom on floor and leave for one hour then seal. He told me if after 3 days you see nothing growing in p-dishes i didnt have to send in to the lab for analysis. After 3 days of testing there is fungus growing in one p-dish. It is an obvious sign of some form of mold or fungus in my home. When i saw the growth i wanted to kill somebody. I will send into the lab called immunolytics so they can test the mold and let me know what species it is and or if its toxic. I will post the results when the tests come back. I wanted to spread the word on 1-hr p-tree dishes as one method of testing a new or old home when you have question whats in the air of the home your living or about to live in with regards to the recent questions on " safe homes " and how to find them. 1 hour on the floor in whatever room you test and within 3 or 4 days you can see if there is fungus growth or not. Here is a link to my 1 hour gravity test p-tre dish with the growth in it http://www.geocities.com/photoguys2003/1hrgravity.jpg --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Hi Photoguy. One out of 4 plates growing mold is not bad at all, but depends on how much mold grows in plate. One allergy doctor who treats for chronic sinusitis, says that less than 5 caught in one hour is okay. However if all five or more spores are of the exact same mold, it may indicate there is a problem in that room, so wait to get lab results. Be sure there were no cracks to outside or loose windows or anyway the mold could have instead been from outside, such as windows that are not in as good condition as the other rooms, or there isn't an attic hatch in that room and mold could have come down from attic, etc. One tests isn't enough to know much, but it's a start. I use settling plates all the time. Another test you can do is a tape lift from inside a cold air return. I have not done one but others here can give you info on that. Is your doc Dr Rae? I know plates bought from him are 4 in a pack. > > > > Hi all! > My Doc gave me some 1hr gravity pi tree dishes to test the air in my > home as one method to test to see if my home was " safe " or toxic
