Guest guest
Hi All I need some help with an issue I have had for years and I would love to know if anyone else has had this similar pain. If you are grossed out by talk about lower body issues, don't read this, LOL. Let me preface by saying I have CM1, Classical vs Hypermobility EDS, and possible occult tethered cord syndrome. When I was pregnant with my first child, I developed an external hemorrhoid. It was just bothersome because it was there, but didn't really cause any great issues with anything. I child number two and it got slightly bigger. It has a tendency to expand and contract on occasion, depending on how " regular " I am. I have IBS issues, too. Here's what I need help with. For many years (and I honestly can't remember if it predates the hemorrhoid, but I have always connected it to it, not knowing what else it could be and I always forget to ask the docs about it), I have gotten a sharp pain near my rectum. The pain is not always there, but when it happens it hurts so badly that I imagine it would be similar to what it must feel like to have a broomstick or something shoved up your rear. The thing is, it is not entirely a rectal pain...it is more just in that area and is also like a big pressure downward with the pain....almost like contractions when you are in labor, only not from the uterus. I also have a herniated disc at L5-S1, so I have wondered if it is the disc causes this pain from time to time. Has anyone else experienced anything like this???? I am kicking myself because I forgot to tell Dr.Francomano about it when I saw her a little over a week ago. She is certain I have tethered cord, and I just wonder if this particular pain is another piece of the puzzle that could be important. When I was at TCI in March, I don't think I mentioned it then, either, because I actually forgot to mention it. My ob/gyn was not concerned about the hemorrhoid. He said that it wasn't big enough to warrant surgery to remove it and that it is an awful surgery at that, so if it isn't bleeding and causing problems like that, I shouldn't worry about it. Any thoughts about this bizarre pain? Could it be the disc? The hemorrhoid? OTC? I am seeing lots of docs this week, including an orthopedist (tomorrow), a neurosurgeon (for my herniated disc in my neck), and others that Dr.F wanted me to see. Should I mention this to the orthopedist or neurosurgeon, or would they think I am off my rocker completely?
