Guest guest
1. General question - Assessment: Mild asthma. History: The patient is...... Physical Examination: Lungs clear bilaterally. Allergies: None. Is there one or two spaces between the " : " and the first letter of the next word? My Word97 grammar check tells me it is one space but I always thought it was two. Who is correct? 2. Drug Help - A patient with viral bronchitis and cystic fibrosis - Medications: Pulmozyme. Chest PT and flutter 2-3 times a day. s/l Altrace MT 20, Zantac 8X and vitamin K. Is chest PT correct? and there is no Altrace MT. I don't think its Altace? The dictator said " Zantac eight x (as in the letter not times) " did I type it correctly? Bev W. Guest guest
FYI - I started out in 1980 taking Inderal for palpitations. After being on it for 18 years, all of a sudden I could hardly breathe! So now I am on Atenolol. I tell you this because BP meds are used to control flutter sometimes, so I would think that Altace could possibly be correct since it is listed as an antihypertensive. This is one of those things that began changing with the advent of computers and, more specifically, with modern word processing. The general consensus, as I understand it, is this: If you are using a fixed-width font, such as Courier, you generally use two spaces after the colon; if you're using a variable-width font, such as Arial, Times Roman, etc., you use one. I've worked in offices that used either one or two spaces after colons and periods, even in the latter case. It's still largely " a style thing, " and one should follow the style their employer requests. Ultimately, I feel it's of little importance, personally, as long as one is *consistent* about which method is used. It certainly will not affect patient care. :-) Chuck -- Please note e-mail change of address to USWest.Net =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Chuck Mattsen mailto:mattsen@... http://www.mindspring.com/~mattsen http://www.handtech.com/ChuckMattsen =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Random Thought/Quote for This Post: A fool must now and then be right by chance alone.
