Guest guest
Hi all I've been meaning to ask this for a while... basically I got hold of my medical records a few months ago and they contained a CINE MRI (CSF flow study) radiologist's report from last year, on which was written the following: " MR of the Brain demonstrates a Chiari Malformation with approx 1cm of tonsillar descent below the level of the foramen magnum. There is no associated hydrocephalus. There is flow at the anterior rim of the foramen magnum. This appears slightly reduced. " I know what the first bit means (although it's a surprise that my Chiari is 1cm as I've been told it was only 2mm!!) but I'm not sure where the 'anterior rim of the foramen magnum' is, does anterior mean 'front'? I'm not sure why they've singled out this particular bit to say that there is flow there. Also, should I be worried that they say the flow is 'slightly reduced'? At the time, when I saw my consultant following the scan, he said that the flow was 'fine' and 'normal'. This seems to contradict the radiologist's report (which I hadn't seen at that point) unless it is 'normal' to have flow that is 'slightly reduced'. I am quite confused by it all. I'd just like to know if anyone can tell me what this report means and whether I ought to be concerned about it. If anyone has had a similar report or can give me any advice that would be great. Many thanks in advance Amy (UK)
